What's new

Well, the good news is Rubio will definitely not be back next year.

Didn't he have his best season's in the NBA playing under Quinn's system?

Looked it up, He really did. Highest PPG, 3pt%, FG%, 3ptA/game, FGA/game. The only stat he got worse in was Assists.
That's a credit to Rubio the player who is in his prime, but I don't see how you can look at the positions Rubio was in and think "this really suits his strengths"

Mr Sandman I think what you’re trying to say is that in an offence that is half court heavy and is predicated on creating open looks Mr Rubio with his dubious shooting has sucked the sweat off a dead man’s ********* no ??

So what system would? Apparently this system didn't yet he played better than the other systems he played in. I'm not convinced that there is a system available in the NBA that suits the strengths of a perimeter position player that can't shoot.

Philadelphia. Philadelphia is the answer you are looking for. You will need 4 guys who are, at worst, borderline all stars though. . .

It would be a fast paced system but the problem is that Rubio starting at PG likely hardcaps your team to a 2nd round/maybe conference finals team at best depending on talent around him as the game slows down significantly in the playoffs regardless.

News flash! Rubio is DEFINITELY coming back to the Jazz and will lead them to the top record in the NBA with his deft passing, fundamental knowledge of the game and ability to put his teammates in the best possible position to either dunk the ball or lay it up for easy baskets or hit wide open 3 point shots! His improved shooting skills will also make him a top 3 candidate for MVP of the league as well!

Seems to me like there is going to be major shakeups on a lot of teams this off season in an attempt to improve there rosters and move up the playoff latter. Some teams with solid decks already are going to make serious changes when they shouldn't! If the Jazz stay put pretty much and just tweak a little bit, their ability to pass teams who decided to make major changes will be enhanced by a factor of 10! The more you play together in basketball the better off your team will be and the better chance of winning basketball games as well. The Jazz have a winning "system" that doesn't need major tweaking and by just adding a player or two to that system we could be in business this year for a long playoff run!

^Had Toronto just "tweaked" their roster, they wouldn't be one win away from a title. Unless the Jazz significantly upgrade at LEAST one starter and add scoring on the second unit, they just don't have the talent on their roster to make a long playoff run. Denver passed them up this season and should continue to improve. GS with or without Durant would still be better than Utah. Portland and OKC could likely still be better than Utah with just some minor tweaks on their part. LA will likely add major talent around Lebron. Jazz don't have the luxury to add just a couple of players like they have in the past two seasons and get past the 1st or 2nd round.

It has also helped toronto that they didnt have to go through lebron and that a **** load of warriors got hurt.

Exactly. No disrespect to Toronto and I sure as heck don't believe in an asterisk on a title run. That said, the odds were favorable for them in terms of injury timing to their opponents. Nothing wrong with capitalizing on a situation.

So much love... I think he’s gone, eager to see the “improvement” at the PG position that comes out of it.

One thing you could never say about Ricky is that he didn't give maximum effort. I respect him for that but his shots didn't fall often enough for a team looking to go deep into the playoffs.

Kawhi and Kyle are both playing hurt and they smoked a really good Milwaukee team. Injuries happen that is why you build yourself to be a conference finalist and hope to get favorable matchups or hot shooting and luck into a title. There is so much of this that requires good luck. They put themselves into a great situation to get lucky and earned the title asterisk free imo.
