Jazz front runner for Conley

Problem is, do the jazz go conley or gamble and wait on DLO.

Its easy to see which decision would make the most sense.

Conley is battle tested bit old, but he has damn skill...an exponentially better PG than rubio. An absolutely amazing floor general.

Mfers wana call conley old but claim LBJ is still young and in his prime, 3 years older than conley.

Conley is a beast, the fact he kept that team competitive with the *** roster they had is amazing.

My worry is of course maybe he is injury prone, if he can stay healthy 100% hed be a damn fine a damn fine addition to this team.

DLO would he good too but do we gamble?

If Utah got a commitment from D'Lo, Utah would probably wait. The organization isn't prone to gambling in FA, but they know they need to do something as the timeline for Gobert and Mitchell OM NOM NOMing the available capspace for Utah to sign an FA is approaching. If they could get D'Lo, that gives Utah three nice pieces to build around with a modern NBA backcourt and All-NBA center in the five. Our guard rotations and 3 spot is set for now with Ingles for now and Rolls probably taking the spot after him. Just need to deal with 4/5 rotations for depth and we're solid.

All that said, we need a f***ing PG who can shoot and initiate. Conley may not be the ideal long term solution, but depending on the price, it more than works for now.

Preach it

Oh and no I don’t think it’s light years ahead of what Rubio was providing.

Time to watch some Conley GIFs if you get a spare 30 seconds. He's like having Rubio at his best for 4/5 of the year instead of 1/5.

I do think that adding Harris would be better for the Jazz than adding Conley. If your 4 can hit 3s and make pick-n-roll plays, then opposing defenses cannot drop their 4 into the paint to challenge Mitchell when he penetrates. Donovan would become unstoppable with Harris in the lineup, and Gobert would get another dunk or two per game. But the problem is Harris must be wooed as a FA, and the Jazz could end up with nothing.

If the Jazz can get Conley via trade, they should. They don't have to leave it up to him, and he takes pressure off of Mitchell in ways that Rubio could only conjure every five or so games. It doesn't get rid of the 4 dropping into the paint, but it swings many plays towards the 1 that used to be worthless. When Rubio was able to hit shots, the Jazz became lethal. Conley gives us quality play from the 1, and his health benefits from the fact that he doesn't have to do it all like he had to in Memphis. Mitchell can be the aggressor attacking the rim, and Conley can be more opportunistic. He can pick his shooting spots and create plays with Mitchell, Ingles, and Gobert.

I also think his steady shooting has the potential to rub off on Mitchell in a way that DLo's won't. Russell's inefficiency paired with Mitchell's will just crater the Jazz at an unbearable clip. Conley will steady Mitchell and will take him in the opposite direction on a much more consistent basis.

Conley, right now, is a better player than Russell. Will that be true 2 years from now? I don't know, but the next two years are pretty darn important. The big thing is Conley's ability to get to the hoop. Russell doesn't give us that which means teams can just play Mitchell on the drive still. If you shift all of your resources to stop Mitchell on the drive, which teams that play us do, then Conley is going to kill you and force bad rotations.

The other thing that is cool about Conley, if we keep Favors, is that he is left handed. Joe Ingles to Favors PNR is so devastating because Joe is Left Handed.

Conley is a better fit for Utah. Runs the offense better, slashes more gets to the line more. Can shoot just as good as Russell. Good defender, better leader and community guy.

For a one year rental? No thats is smart business for a small market long term. As a fan we would love them to swing for the fences. But if you trade Mitchell or Gobert and you dont win it all and the player leaves. The franchise is hurt for a long time. Possibly means Vegas Jazz.

Yeah. Cause OKC trading for George when George left a year later...

Or Toronto trading for Leonard blew up in their faces...

Even the Timberwolves flipped Butler for Saric and Covington. If we had Covington and Saric we’d be close to a 60 win team.

Stop being scared of success.

First of all it's not me, that's the Jazz. I would have traded Gobert for kawhi.

Secondly, those trades are risky, they turned out for those teams but that doesn't mean it would have for us.

Also if we had Covington and Saric then we would have had to traded someone for them. Are we a 60 win team with them minus Gobert and/or Mitchell?

Paul George or Kawaii Leonard would never have signed with OKC or Toronto as free agents. They were traded for. It would have been idiotic for them to strip the team bare for cap space in order to have a CHANCE at signing those players. They spent assets to give their targets no choice but to come to each team respectively. I think that is what the Conley supporters are advocating.

There are no lessons to be learned from the Timberwolves. That is a crap losing organization that is constantly chasing shiny objects rather than putting together a ball club. It all sucks, from development, to coaching, to the front office, to the ugly *** tree uniforms.

First, has trading for a star blown up in anyone’s face?

Second, you could say it blew up in Minnesota’s face, but they flipped Butler for Saric and Covington.

My point was if we traded for Butler then flipped him to Philly we’d still be in a much, much better place.

To me, it’s kinda like saying, “don’t commit to that really fun, really cute girl at the bar, because you might have a chance with a hooker.”
This is actually the other way around. Commit to the hooker since she is a sure thing and don't wait for a chance at the really cute and cool girl at the bar.

Plenty of times has it blown up.

I didn't say it blew up in their face. I pointed out what it took too get those players was an all Star level player. We would have had to traded Mitchell or Gobert to get what Minny got. You aren't looking at what you have to give up to get those players.

If he somehow ends up here, I’ll start looking for another team to support.

He’s hard to watch sometimes.... I’d rather have him than Love though... he’d probably be free too which is weird to think about.

Just read Bleacher reports latest trade ….Conley for Exum ,Grayson Allen and #23 Works perfect for Jazz DNA ,get rid of the most athletic players for over achievers who get exposed in the playoffs . I like Conley but Exum ,Allen and #23 will make a bigger impact going forward .If I was Memphis I'd jump on this deal.
