Conley Officially a Jazzman

I think the front office has answered this a lot. Yes, they really like those players.
This is a message board for fans though. I don't think the from office participates so I wasn't asking them.

For the record, I'm glad we kept Exum. I haven't given up on him yet. He has more long term value in my mind than Grayson or #23.
It would be nice to have his cap space, but he is one of the few upside players we have on the roster (another risk by the front office).

Everything I heard of why they didn't deal him at the deadline is because we wouldn't include exum

The front office was/is still high on Exum (despite him being ded). And if they decide to move him, they will probably be looking at selling high.

In hindsight, I'd probably include Exum (I've sold my spot on Exum island). It kind of sucks last year felt like wasted time by standing pat. The front office probably expected to have a better chance of signing a top free agent. But the last couple of weeks hinted otherwise and thus, made them overpaid a bit for Conley. Perhaps Indiana and Boston were now in the conversation unlike last year, thus driving up the price. Who knows.

Can't believe how much hate this is getting.

1. Conley takes us up a couple playoff spots by himself.
2. The picks aren't that valuable.
3. Losing Jae does suck and is surprising
4. This is Exum's last chance - DL's logic is that he'll either be ready to take over if/when Conley is done, or he's gone.
5. DL wouldn't have made this move if he wasn't confident in free agency. Maybe not a Harris level pickup, but someone as good or better than Jae is likely to come.

We shall see I guess. I trust they know more about him then anyone. My only concern is health but none of his injuries concern me long term, just bad luck. He still has a huge ceiling.
I have more concerns than his health.
He hasn't been very good when healthy. I do like that he is still young though

How do you figure? The protections set the table for us to give up the pick in 2022. Anything is possible. There is no guarantee that the 2022 pick is "late 20's".

Its still top-6 protected and we would be pretty bad without Gobert and Mitchell’s talent being taken by the monstars.

Grizzlies fans seem to be happy with what they got and to also like the trade for the Jazz and be happy for Conley to go to a good team.

GLAD to see Crowder go. Terrible shooter. Who cares about his attitude. Sefalosha's better if nothing else. Addition by subtraction.

So... as long as we try to upgrade the PF spot I'm ok with not including Favors. I think Jae is much more valuable to us, but if that's what it took to get the deal done, then so be it. However, I'm not happy if we sacrifice Jae because of our irrational love affair with Exum and Favors. We either need to bring in a free agent, or even trade for Kevin Love. At this point, that'd be huge.

Mitchell
Ingles
Love
Gobert
