Conley Officially a Jazzman

Crowder brought so much more than shooting. He brought toughness that no other Jazz player had. Utah need to find a personality to replace that, someone who isn't afraid to get in the face of opponents or teammates. I wanted him as a member of the Jazz when he was in college. He is a total team and hard hat kind of guy. I am very sorry to see Utah's enforcer go.

I think JaMychal Green could bring that

Conley is not a defensive beast. PG is probably the least defensive impact position. He's not a liability but not much else. His DRPM is middle of the pack the last 3 seasons.
You're missing the point, which is the addition of Conley won't change Utah's defensive dominance, perhaps even improve it.
Besides he's a better defensive player than you realize and a tanking team's adv-stats indicate. He makes all-NBA defense teams. He's a grit and grind legend.

1. Most other fans seem to think this is a fair deal. Perhaps some of you guys suffer from the endowment effect?
2. Conley is Quin's favorite PG in the league. His contract is synced with Gobert and Mitchell's contracts.
3. All Utah Jazz starters are top-50 players. Conley is a defensive beast. Utah should be #1 defensively again.
4. HOU has major issues. GSW will likely miss the playoffs. So finally Utah has a chance to win the West. This is a golden opportunity they've patiently waited for. I actually think that's the main reason behind this trade.
Well said. I can see that. I hope he stays longer than one year otherwise that's a high-cost rental. Unless they win it all of course. But if they do that I imagine he'll stay long-term.

THIS. This is what came to mind especially when Thompson and Durrant both went down: "Jazz better make a big move."

He's been good. But he's older RN and has achilles issues. He's not a slam dunk.

I'm also very excited about the fact that no one gives Lillard more fits defensively than Conley. There are times that Lillard is unguardable, but Conley is probably the best there is at making him work for it.

Don't mind losing Jae or Grayson, but that second first is really a killer. Our options are really limited now, will really need DM, Royce, Exum, and Niang to all internally improve.

The real question is - if we were willing to give up 2 1sts now, why the hell didn't we do it at the trade deadline? This is such BS. We wasted Conley's best playoff run and half of his value just to give up even more value for him now. WTF DL?
Jazz give up an additional first (maybe) in a double cohort year, and lose their full MLE this season to save Ricky Rubio the inconvenience of moving to Memphis mid-season.

Really poor asset management.

you can never judge a trade until a few years down the line. I like Conley a lot but I just wish we could have save one of the picks or got a second from Memphis. I also like Allen and thought he could be a shooter off the bench. I am not overly upset that he was included. Hopefully this is just the beginning of building the roster. Jazz certainly need bench help especially from the offensive end. Jazz starting five is pretty good but they have to stay healthy. Hopefully, they can move up in the draft and find a sleeper and find two shooters in FA.

Conley is a very good defensive player who has the potential to get back to 2 spg playing the with Jazz, like he did some years back with the Grizzlies. I have a feeling that his DRPM was affected by playing for an awful Grizzlies team in many non competitive games
