Conley Officially a Jazzman

Favors will probably be traded at some point between now and the trade deadline for wing/front court depth. I think we will see a lot a Royce at PF this season. His improvement was making Jae a bit redundant.
Fav is staying. Book it.

I’m not sure the FO wants to let Favors or Exum go. They’ve tried so hard to keep them...

Jazz:

"Hey look, we just got one of the best pick and roll points in the league. And he's left handed (which works well with Favors who thrives off the left handed jingles pick and rolls) AND we actually kept Favors! How about we see how this works!"

Some Fanz:

Delete immediate! Drop Favors- Sign Mirotic's Bony *** Streeeeetchhh fooooourrrrr! Why no Dlo!??!!!

Jazz:

<shakes head sadly>

I'm guessing it was just dependent on stuff they have no way of knowing.

Yeah, the Jazz can back channel and find out what Harris wants to do, but they probably can't back channel and know what KD is going to do, or what Jimmy Butler is going to do.

Butler leaves Philly, then Harris might get the 5 year max and stay.

That happens and KD doesnt go to Brooklyn, then Nets keep Russell.

Just too much uncertainty.

Look at Boston. They had plans with pretty solid assurances. How'd that go for them?

Don't mind this trade at all, lossing late first round picks aren't that big a deal, korver a lot of people wanted to retire and Jae will be missed but that's the cost of doing business. Lineup with Conley means we could be looking at conference finals as a minimum.

Jazz mind of got raped if they was hoping for chips but if they happy being a top 8team in the whole league then Bravo. 2 1st round picks is pricey along with Jae. Still not better than Denver or Portland both in same division.

would you mind translating that into coherent English ?/ thnx

what's the protection on the future pick though ?

Per David Aldridge Twitter:

Memphis, per sources, will listen to offers on the first-rounder (23rd) acquired in the Conley deal.
And, protections on the future first from Utah:
-Pick will convey to Memphis is 2020 or 2021 if it falls between 8-14
-if it doesn’t, protected 1-6 in ‘22,, 1-3 in ‘23, 1 in ‘24.

I agree, I just liked Russell better and we wouldnt give up anything for him plus have more space for other players. But I also want more risks taken then the Jazz are willing to. I think we had a decent shot at one or the other but that might just be hopeful thinking. They may have well been told through back channels that they those players aint coming.

Russel and Donovan is a really bad defensive backcourt. Really bad.

Maybe they will sell us that 23rd? Or trade for Bradley?

Now that Crowder's gone I wouldn't mind Royce closing some games for us at the 4. Conley, Mitchell, Ingles, O'Neale, Gobert would be a great lineup both offensively and defensively.

Mitchell is a solid defender. Russell wasnt good but he looked better in the playoffs and I think he can be a decent one.

But its a moot point now. We have Conley a player I really like and I think we will be much improved.

Although we still need to make some moves.
