What's new

2019 NBA draft day thread

Maybe I am just being overly optimistic but this draft class for the Jazz feels special. We appear to have some high motor workers who know how to play and can be rotation players right off the bat with room to improve.

Is it just me or given our position in the draft, did we nail it?!?
This makes me feel a bit better about how things turned out.

My thoughts from tonight... sad we couldn’t pay the premium to get Paschall... happy we didn’t try for Bol Bol... overall a solid night... there is a case that any and all of the guys we picked can make and fill a role soo we rather than later... also at least we aren’t the Suns... an especially WTF effort on their part tonight.
Jazz in Nuggets rearview and they allowed to gamble like this just like with MPJ. Just of one of those players work out watch out, that's championship caliber and How you build a team. Take notes Jazz fans. Its what you get after all them years talking we always rob the nuggets in trades. Now look who the better team is a lineup
Murray
harris
mpJ
bol
jokic

Y'all love to play nba2k gm s so tell me how the Jazz can beat that future thinking? Gotta take swing for fences when your a small market team. Jazz to conservative to ever do such an thing.

I'm notorious for being critical when we fail to make moves.

I appreciate the FO taking the time to work out the "diamond in the rough" unknown guys throughout the predraft process. I also appreciate the effort to get multiple players even if all in the last 10 selections. Getting those guys is a signal of intent. Spending that money (on two picks - #50 and #58) shows a willingness to build and take chances.

All three picks are intriguing. All are long, athletic, interesting prospects brimming with potential.

you would of loved bol bo l to jazz though, don't lie

Anyone know the issue with Louis King? He needs to work on his body, but he's a long, 6'8" wing who can shoot, move the ball, and switch on defense. I don't see anyone picking him up, even as a 2-way. Is there a medical red flag?

I would love to face that team. Could damn near score at will. Bol at 4?! LMAO.

That right there tells me how little you know.

Bol Bol weighs 210 lbs. He has foot issues. He needs to weigh at least 240 at his height to play in the NBA. Guess what adding that weight will do to his foot issues??

He will be a 10-15 mpg guy at best. And he can't play the 4. C'mon.

What Bol and Jontay taught us last night is projects have less value in the NBA. Have thought for a long time... Why would you draft a guy who is a 4 year project and when/if he gets good or starts to show his potential... you then have to pay him all teh monies.

Get these types on their second contract... Bol may have the medical/body issues that make it impossible for him to develop... add in poor work ethic and that's a bad bet... isn't always about the pick investment... its all the opportunity costs too... see Exum, Dante.

From the Finch article in The Athletic
Louis King, 6-9 forward, Oregon, 20. “The big questions are going to be off the court. It’s a mixed bag there. I’ve heard he’s not a hard worker, never on time for anything. No doubt there’s talent there, but I don’t trust him for a lot of reasons. He’ll get drafted but I don’t know if he’ll stick. You’re always going to want more. His ability to take coaching got better as the year went on.”

And his mom weighs in...
