What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Possibly they would want more but they would not have any negotiation power in this. Tobias Harris would be telling them I am not returning and would like to go to the Jazz. Will you facilitate a sign and trade and get assets or lose me for nothing?

Sign and trades rarely give up much. Maybe the Jazz give them a 2nd round pick for their "trouble."
But they don’t need leverage. If they don’t want trash salary, they have no obligation to take it, especially not $30M for a second round pick.

should have shaken the free agency leaves on harris before trading for conley, that is assuming the interest tobias has is as strong as tony is saying. i would've rather had a lineup of non-rubio PG-don-joe-tobias-gobert with all the depth (sans favors) and draft picks intact that were lost in the memphis trade. could've found a solid PG in free agency who can serve to primarily spread the floor when open and not turn it over. as it stands, the current bench is going to get killed and the starters will be gassed before the playoffs.

U can have Harris just trade Dante and favs to 76ers

PG ) Mike Conley 30 mpg , Exum 18 mpg
SG) D Mitchell 32 mpg , Exum 10 mpg
SF) J Ingles 28 mpg , R O'Neale 20 mpg
PF ) J Randle 32 mpg ,G Niang 16mpg
C) R Gobert 32 mpg , ????? Bradley 16 mpg

Of course we have to let our beloved loyal soldier Favors go...…… but wow Jazz have the beginning of your young veteran core.

Jazz need to add players to fill out the roster and heaven forbid its old veterans that do nothing all season long ,look slow as molasses in the playoffs and rinse and repeat again the next year.

Furkan Korkmaz 21 y o 6'7 SG/SF ….. starting 3rd yr
Mario Hezonja 24 y o 6'8 SF/PF ……..starting 5th year
Dragan Bender 21 y o 7'1 PF/C ……...starting 4th year

all European's who don't mind playing in places like Utah and would probably benefit playing for a winning and stable organization like Utah.

Why would anyone like to move Favors for a lesser player?
For a player who fits better (stretch 4).
Like there might be a lesser player who actually makes the team better due to being a better fit even though they are a lesser player.

What we (should) want is the best TEAM possible.

Also maybe you should want to trade him for a lesser player if the lesser player is cheaper and allows for us to get another player we like and need.

I don't think anyone would call 1 year contract with Favors trash except for you. He's a good player.

But it's easy enough to get other teams involved. There are teams that want our two players.

Cut Neto and Faves.

Dump Bradley, Niang and Exum to a team for more space.

Sign Millsap, Caruso, Ross.

Sign Chandler and Vince Carter to vet min.

Conley-Caruso
Mitchell-Ross
Ingles-O'Neale
Millsap-Carter
Gobert-Chandler

Hate to break it to you, but unless something changes dramatically we don't get the MLE.

I like some of those names... tolliver and Selden at the min are solid/reasonable

I think Ariza ends up making closer to 10M than room exception money unfortunately.

House is fine... I think Carroll is a room exception candidate and I’d add Luol Deng to the min list. He played solid last year... think he may have a little bit left.

If we can find a cheap stretch option I also like Garrett Temple.

I like this list, though I think Ariza is going to command quite a bit more than the room MLE.

I would keep Favs and try to trade Dante for a lower salaried player we like and then use the additional cap space, exceptions, and minimums to fill out the roster.
