What's new

Sources: Bobby Portis significantly interested in Utah

If he could hit 3s and finish at the rim. I would overlook the other stuff and he would be an above average starting PG. But he can't do those so I'll point out that he has other issues as well.

Favors can't shoot the 3 and can't create on his own, but I'll over look that since he is an elite defender, finishes really well, is an elite roll man in the pick and roll, an excellent rebounder, and a solid mid range jump shooter. All great attributes of a big man. Plus I believe in him extending his range to 3 more than Rubio.

You're still a **** bloke for saying it ron...

If Rubio was playing with a scoring, shooting PF, he wouldn't have looked as bad. That's not a knock against Favors. I would rather have Favors and a good PG than Rubio and a good PF. The roster just didn't do Rubio many favors......

If i was playing with Le Bron James, Michael Jordan and whoever else, i'd still look like a fat, slow, useless arsehole and Rubio still wouldnt be able to shoot or finish on a hookers face

Say no to miroshi*

Probably a really low chance Mirotic is looked at. Jazz have had a few opportunities to add him over the last few seasons, but have not done so.

Same for Bjelica. Could have signed him for next to nothing last offseason and went with Niang instead.

It’s different if we waive Favors though... don’t think they wanted to pay those guys to be bench pieces... Niang was signed to play Jerebko minutes.

I don’t want Portis at what it would cost.... would rather sign JaMychal Green for less or sign Rudy Gay. I think I might rather keep Favs than get Portis.

Mirotic looked REALLY bad in the playoffs this year. I don't want him. He is a streaky 3 shooter but that is about it.

I think Green is a really underrated option. Dude is an excellent rebounder. Size. Shot the three at 40% this year on a healthy 4.6 attempts per 36. Grab him and someone else.

How much do you pay Green + Ed Davis and how much of Favors’ production are they replacing?

Miroshi* can't play d and gets benched in big games too inconsistent. So he is a stiff. See the ecf

How much is Green going to cost? Can he be had with Favors? I know very little about him.
No idea on his market. I’d imagine $10M gets him, probably less when all is said and done. I think the problem with getting anyone while maintaining Favors is that we basically Jae Crowder them. That is, put them in a situation that’s not best for them (or the team) to be able to continue starting Favors.

I still don't understand this love for Jabari. Favors > Jabari and we'd have to lose Favors to sign Jabari. Hard pass from me.
Jabari is as good at offense as Favors is at defense, and as bad at defense as much as Favors is bad at offense.

You basically get the flipside of the Favors coin. We need more offense than defense right now, so... yeah

The Jazz will not go after Portis due to his cheap shot on Mirotic. They avoid any unstable players like that.

Haha, no.

I'm not opposed to signing jabari for cheap. But that is way off.

Jabari makes Boozer look like Gobert on defense. Jabari doesn't even try.

I disagree

Favors is a plus on offense and is really good at defense.

So far in his career Jabari is barely a plus on offense (this is debatable if you look at stats, they say he is a negative) and a definite negative on defense.

Per 100 possessions this season Favors and Jabari scored about the same amount. But Favors was way more efficient. Favors offensive rating was 124 to Jabari's 102. Defensively Favors was 103 to Jabari's 113. I could keep going but pretty much every advanced stat favors Favors over Jabari. Jabari has not been a positive player on the court in his career thus far. If you go by career numbers its even worse for Jabari in comparison.

Favors is an elite defender. Favors is an elite roll man in the pick and roll. Favors is elite at finishing at the rim. Favors was #8 in the NBA at Efg% between Curry and Giannis. Favors was #7 at offensive rating and #6 at defensive rating. Per 48 minutes Favors was #9 in the league this year. Favors was #18 in box scores +/- in the NBA.

Jabari is not elite at anything. The best thing about him over Favors is he can shoot the 3. But so far he has been below average 3 point shooter in the NBA. Jabari has potential to be good but he has not been so far.

And I am in favor of picking up Jabari if he is cheap. Although I might be his only person that wants us to sign him that isnt LDS.

I dont think he is as bad as Boozer was. He doesnt move out of the way like Boozer did. He seems to put some effort in. He also looked okay at defense in the playoffs last time he was in them. He made some big defensive plays and put okay effort in.
