What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

I just found out that JJ Redick is available as a free agent! If we could pick him up....we're looking at 90-0 before we lose a game! A starting 5 of Donavan, Conley, Rudy, Favors and Redick would produce 35 points a QT, 70 a half and 140 a game!
Well, at least you got the math right.

I like Redick, but we need to use our money on other positions. With Donovan, Royce and even Exum as SG options, I think we need to focus more on PF, SF and backup C if we let Favors go.

Oh BTW in part 2 of the Dunc'd on mock off-season GSW traded Shaun Livingston and a 1st rounder for Jae Crowder with Memphis.

So if something like this happens, this would mean we traded the equivalent of 4 1st round picks for Conley.

The flip side is that DL probably couldn’t stomach trading a #5 draft pick that he spent an entire year tanking for.

They took on some dead money so not exactly... I mean we knew that Crowder had some decent value not just dead salary.

In the mock offseason Jeremy Lamb got 3/42... wonder if you could sneak him in at 4/50 and then see if you can get JaMychal Green with the remaining space. Use room exception on a center.

Say you dumped Tony Bradley with Favs in trade... maybe pick up another second for your trouble.... I like that team a lot. Lamb is young and a good wing to maybe ramp up if Joe Ingles stops being a god. He helps protect us against injury because he could slide in at 2/3 and DM could move up to pg if Conley had some injuries.

Our team gets so much more interesting with a mix of FAs rather than just Favs.

No... end discussion
I'm very wary of doing it too and if I do it it would be with the express plan of not relying on him in the playoffs. I just think we need bodies for the regular season and I think he can probably survive if he buys in in low intensity regular season games. We need players that we can play so we can get our starters healthy and not completely spent by playoffs time.

The talk of him finishing in NY wreaks of him being done and just wanting his farewell tour. I don't think he'll be motivated and would worry about chemistry more than anything. I also want him on the Lakers... DM sees Carmelo and you can just scratch in an easy 40.

I do think we can get a value minimum guy this year since we have roster spots... guys I'd consider:

- Deng
- Jonas
- Mbah a Moute - Injured all year may be washed but at the minimum if he's healthy that's great.
- Corey Brewer
- Wayne Selden

Just some guys that can be minute fillers.

Chandler and Carter.

Chandler and Carter.

Yeah them too... I just don’t know if Vince would consider Utah. Sounded like he may be joining the Heat.
You saying Tyson or Wilson Chandler. Tyson will be a Laker... Wilson will make more than minimum.

Signing Melo to the Jazz and hoping all would be good is like jamming a lit stick of dynamite in your crack and going about your day. It's asking for **** to hit the fan.

My guess is that the Jazz keep Favors and Exum (at least to start the season) and use the Room MLE and minimum contracts to fill out the rest of the roster.

As such, I’m hoping for DeMarre Carroll. Fills a key role. Can help in the playoffs. Knows the city, fans and culture. Knows the system. Loves the coach.

Just seems like a great fit to replace Jae Crowder.

That would be my guess as well at this point, and I think it would be a darn good team. But I'm also sort of hoping some other big move gets made.
