What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

I think we should seriously explore the European role player market. I'm not talking about stars here. Pure role players that defend and shoot.

I still want Nikola Kalinic. He's exactly what I envision as depth/rotation piece off the bench who can defend and shoot a bit. He's not a superstar in Europe so he's not overpaid and we can probably give him competitive offer. Nicolo Melli is another one. We should just target role players in Europe for a role player spot on our roster. Easier transition, lower compensation... probably easier to draw them in. Go find the next Royce O'Neal and don't worry if he's scoring 8 points a game in Europe. If he can defend and shoot and dribble twice without turning it over, just get them over.

I'd be game. Might be a good mix as well with any our 2nd that make the roster.

Here's another one as a possible Harden/Curry defender - Avery Bradley. He's coming off a bad season, but oh well... if we are throwing **** at the wall... he's one that probably has better chance than most to stick...

I think there’s some possible off-the-court legal issues that would make him a no.

Great, great post.

If Chandler stays with the Lakers, I’d consider Bogut or Pachulia cheap as ****. Both bring some nasty

I feel like we need another wing and likely one who won’t bitch if he’s getting a DNP (Conley, Mitchell, Exum and O’Neale play minutes there plus the rookies perhaps) or playing just 8 minutes a game or is needed to play 24 due to injury. Caruso makes a lot of sense.

That said, if we opt out of Faves and can dump Bradley, I wonder if we could do 4/48 for Portis and 4/24 for Green.

Any way we can get all four?

Conley-Caruso-Foreman
Mitchell-Exum
Ingles-O’Neale-Oni
Portis-Green-Niang
Gobert-Bogut

Only other thing I’d love is one more killer spot up shooter on the wing.

Considering he just played with Conley at Memphis, I would defer to Conley's opinion on that one. If he thinks Bradley could be a great asset, we should add him.

The off court issue thing generally takes you off the list for the Jazz regardless of other players opinions.

Is the off the court issue with Bradley still an issue? If it was such an issue, why would Memphis play him last year and why haven't they waived him yet even though he has a very team friendly non-guaranteed contract (only $2 million of his $12+ is guaranteed)?

Great post. That’s exactly one of the pathways the Jazz should be looking to fill some of their open roster spots.

Once you settle a sexual assault case it will likely always be an issue with the Jazz. Even if it isn’t a legal issue. Maybe they dig into it and don’t think it’s an issue but we generally just write those guys off our list.

Usually. If they do that, then I completely understand. He is a player who would help us, but I get it.

Lakers just gave Qualifying Offer to Caruso... they have max space right now... we hit them with a 3-4M offer on July 6th and that caphold jumps from 1.6 to 3-4 immediately and then they can't do their max deal... Go get him.

That would be a good move. We are at ~107 million right now. We could waive Neto right? That would give us about 4 million under the cap. We then use the trade room on a stretch 4 and then fill in with vet min contracts.

We could use his shooting and he would be a good fit to play next to Exum.

Ruben Patterson had a job after his issue. Not all teams waive.
