And so it begins.

Sounds like Houston is desperate to the point of delusion about Butler. Why would Philly have any interest in a sign and trade that sends Butler to them? Houston can't sign Butler unless he agrees to a dirt cheap deal. So what leverage do they have here?

Seems to me that Butler would go to Houston if they had max space. I could see why. Seems like the new Houston owner will pay anything.

If Tucker didn't throw that shade at Gobert via instagram, I would pursue him right now. I just don't want anybody messing up the lockerroom.

Lastly, if teams with cap absorb Houston players, that's less money on the open market for this massive free agent class. Portis wants $16, he might get $10. There really aren't that many teams with more than the MLE of less than $10 million.

To sign Durant and Kyrie to full max contracts, Brooklyn still has some work to do: https://hoopshype.com/2019/06/25/brooklyn-nets-kyrie-irving-kevin-durant-deandre-jordan/

If they renounce all of their free agency cap holds, which includes All-Star guard D’Angelo Russell, USA TODAY Sports Media Group’s Yossi Gozan projects they would have approximately $66.9 million in cap space. They can increase that figure to $68.7 million if they waive both Shabazz Napier and Treveon Graham, who are both on non-guaranteed deals.

Durant can sign a deal with the Nets worth $164 million over four years with a cap hit of $38.1 million next season. Irving can make $140 million over four years with a cap hit of $32.7 million in 2019-20.

Even without both Napier and Graham cut, they would be $383.9K short of the two max deals for both Durant and Irving. As such, their front office will likely pursue a trade (Spencer Dinwiddie, Joe Harrisor Rodions Kurucs) this summer.

I would gladly trade Exum for Dinwiddie. But I doubt they are interested. I wish we had something to trade for Joe Harris. But the truth is either one or both of Durant/Kyrie will probably just take slightly less or swap Kurucs for a pick.

I agree. I feel like he'd be the perfect fit for us. Too bad he had to be a dick.

if his situation changed, and new comments were required, he would flip-flop on his comments as if he'd been set on fire. Tucker is the epitome of the 'fake tough guy' phenomenon in the NBA.

From Shams Charania. Would be pretty wacky if they went right back to the teams that traded them.

The Lakers have serious interest in Nets restricted free agent D’Angelo Russell, L.A.’s former No. 2 overall pick and former starting point guard, league sources said. The Lakers’ interest in Russell is real, and has been described as something that the organization has had partly due to their familiarity with Russell.

Harris is a priority for the 76ers — and expected to command a maximum-level contract. One team that should express interest in Harris should they miss out on Kawhi Leonard, according to league sources: The Clippers. Harris and the Clippers had a good relationship and Harris had an All-Star caliber season before the trade to the 76ers in February. Brooklyn, Dallas, Denver, Memphis, Minnesota, New Orleans, and Sacramento are expected to also express interest.

There will come a time, shortly, when the Jazz not screwing around with free agency this off season will look like a positive. There are going to be some idiotic contracts signed, mainly with teams re-upping their own players. . .
