Jazz are emerging as serious threats to sign Bojan Bogdanovic

Yes, but it’s complicated, and would require assistance from Indianapolis and Memphis.

Step 1 - work out a sign and trade deal with Indiana for Rubio and Bogdanovic. This should be pretty easy and strait forward - as long as the numbers work.

Step 2 - adjust the deal with Memphis so you don’t have to use cap space to trade for Mike Conley.

Three parts to this - A.) Add Exum to the existing deal. B.) Get Memphis to fully guarantee Korver’s $7.5 million contract. C.) Improve the draft compensation to make it worth their while. Best way would be to give them next year’s pick (without protections) and then leave the current protections on the 2022/23/24 pick the same. Maybe throw in some cash to offset them buying out Korver.

Conley $32.5 million vs. Exum, Crowder, Korver and Allen ~$27.5 million.

Jazz would keep Favors, add Conley, add Bogdanovic and keep the full MLE of $9.2 million and the Burks trade exception of ~$4 million. But it costs them Exum and another draft pick to pull it off.

Conley, Mitchell, O’Neale, Bogdanovic, Jingles, Favors, Gobert, Full MLE free agent, Neto, Niang, Burks trade exception, maybe Bradley, the three rookies.
Thanks for the reply!

“If the Warriors can add Cousins while still keeping Curry, Thompson, Iggy, Durant and Green. . . it’s all over. They’re unstoppable. Shouldn’t even try to compete. Nobody can beat them.”

Jazzfanz - this time last year.

Quit being whiny children and go compete. The Jazz are a top 4 team in the west AND they’re in the process of getting better this offseason.

Lakers don’t scare me - LeBron, Kawhi and AD are all injury prone lately. Talented, but there’s no sure thing that any of them are healthy at the end of the year.
To be fair if cousins Thompson Klay Draymond and curry were healthy then that first paragraph still holds true

In all of my complaining about the Favors situation, I really hope it’s not lost on people that I know he’s a great dude and very good player. For that reason, it has been and continues to be ******** that we are stringing him along through all of this. Let him go get his payday, let’s shake hands, and go on our ****ing way.
Agreed.
I love favors. His is one of 4 jerseys I have (his is my favorite since it's green).
But for himself and for us, he should go elsewhere. I will always root for him

I'd agree that we'll be in a great spot after acquiring Bojan. but I still personally think that we still fall short to contending for Championship according to the law of minimum. we need to find other ways to address our greatest weaknesses in athleticism and swithability. those could still kill us when facing against teams like Raptors and Bucks

Are they really planning to have this starting lineup?
MCJ - DM - Ingles - Boj - Gobert

If so
1. How will this team not get out-rebounded every game? All starters minus Gobert are below average rebounders. Boj is terrible at it.
2. Who will play 16 minutes at C?
3. That's a lot of shooting but very little athleticism, strength and pace. Won't they really struggle against certain teams?

Favors has been a consummate professional. Came off bench behind Jefferson and Millsap, played on injured leg in playoffs a couple of years ago, and stood in for Gobert when he was injured. I will root for him wherever he ends up (unless it’s the Lakers!).

Not going to lie I've been hating on Favors for a long time. I think when he missed 2 months because he was sleeping on a bed that was too soft really got to me.
He was a nice guy, showed up in the playoffs and he was the best backup 5 in the league. That said the Jazz needed to move on and so did he.

I've been thinking exactly this. I'm worried about the defense as well.

Mitchell still needs to emerge as something like a 26 or 27-pt scorer in the league, but he'll have the right pieces around him to do it, if we pull this off.
Not if we have balance with Conley >20 pts, and Gobert and Bojan ~18. I'm penciling in Ingles around 12.

Gobert - 18
Bojan - 18
Conley - 20
Ingles - 12
Mitchell - 22
O'Neale - 10
Rest of Bench - 6
Dante - DNP-Injured

And FYI, I think Donovan averages ~25 this season and is much more efficient.

I have a feeling, and you can quote me on this, that O'Neale will start in place of Ingles by the end of the year. Ingles would be able to run the 2nd unit with Exum. We have plenty of playmakers with Conley, Mitchell and Bojan so having a work horse like O'Neale fits the starting lineup better.
