Official trade Exum and/or Bradley into cap space thread

Yeah, Ill trust Snyders, DL and the rest of our staffs opinion on him over random fans who dont watch him around the league and write he is a bust based on reading the box scores. The reason I bring up long term project is because he is. He is still 23 and missed 3-4 seasons of development, so he is still developing and still showing he has huge upside in the future. Plenty of players are better early but dont have big upside. There are a couple 2nd rounders that are showing more. That happens all the time though of a lot of players, I am not sure why that is an argument for you. There are usually a couple 2nd rounders that turn into really good players. There have been some star players in the 2nd round.

I am a bit of a Exum homer. You are an Exum hater so thats cool I guess to point that out.

I've posted for awhile on Exum and I don't expect you to have remembered my posts I was honestly optimistic his first few seasons, was forgiving with injuries and lack of improvement and now like most I think he just doesn't have the skill to be productive in this league. So no I'm not a Exum hater in a Exum realist

Would you speak on the much better players chosen after him ? Utah would be in a better spot with them now than exum
There are some okay players taken after him. There are also a ton of really bad players taken after him. If we had got lucky and landed one of the really good players we could be better off right now. But I also think Exum has more upside than a lot of those guys and can provide more going forward. The next 6 players after him are meh and would not have helped us much and I would take Exum and his future over them.

Jokic is the only player taken after Exum that has turned into an all-star player. But he was taken in the 2nd round. It turned out to be a really bad draft.

Exum isn't getting traded, and right now would be an awful time to trade him, value wise.
What? Now is the exact time you trade him as that gets you actual cap space to spend to round out the roster that has no depth.

Exum isn’t a stock of a Fortune 500 company that’s dipped, he’s an absolute lemon that improves the team most by being injured. His only value is for a team with cap it doesn’t know what to do with that is willing to see if he ever becomes good at basketball/can stay healthy. That time should’ve passed for the Jazz last offseason.

I am sure you were hopeful for awhile. But obviously you have given up very early on him and are now a hater, not a realist. I am pretty sure when you just say he sucks at everything that makes you less of a realist then someone like me who says both good and bad things about him. But that is just my opinion.

Bojan says hi. See how much we spent on him he was drafted way after Exum and you can't compare the too.

J Randle is way better than Exum see his payout ?

Saric, LaVine Gary Harris all own Dante.

The jazz would be way better with those guys than Bustum. Just admit you are sold on Dante's potential but these guys have already surpassed it .

There are definitely better players taken after Exum. But it is far too early to say how their career will unfold from here on out. Like I said Exum was more of a project than most and got set way back. He is still really young and a good 3-5 years from even hitting his prime years. Exums potential is a big part of why I like him, I think that is obvious. Some of those guys have exceeded him but most of those guys are people we would not have drafted at that spot so I am not going to blame the Jazz for not taking them or worry about the what if game for them. We shall see what happens over the next 5 years with Exum in comparison to some of those guys. Obviously you have given up on him, and thats cool. Obviously the Jazz have not given up on him and have high expectations still so that is also cool.

Let's be realistic. The Jazz haven't given up on him because they're stuck with him unless they just want to unload him and pay his salary. But while it looks like he is going to be a bust, I think it's mainly because of his fragile body. First of all, no doubt he has elite quickness and can get to the rim at will, just needs to finish better, and he has improved on that and doesn't shy away from contact like he used to He also has good defensive instincts. I've seen him make some pretty exceptional blocks at the rim. And he's great at throwing lobs to Rudy.

Much of his problem is that his body is not that strong. Apparently, he has been working on that. We shall see. But his lack of strength not only has affected his game but played a role in his injuries. And he has horrible form on his shot, his butt looking like it's separated from the rest of his body. I wonder if he straightened his torso on his shot if that would help.

Title says it all. Moving them into cap space allows us to pick up a Marcus Morris or JaMychal Green and/or Alex Caruso.

Yes or no?

No, but I would do a sign and trade for a free agent using Bradley and Niang. You could net someone for 4.6 million (1.6 + 1.9 times 125% plus $100,000). A lot of high value players will be priced out of the market quickly and you can get a better player than Bradley and Niang doing this. Jamycheal, Jabari, etc...

I think if we wanted to dump Exum the opportunity was there with NY but I don’t think so now that they signed Payton... they are painting on their space this year and next... holy hell Knicks.

And can you get any of those players for $10m? Because the only thing relevant to the discussion is opportunity cost. Trade Exum for nothing and who can you sign as a FA in return?

You go negotiate with someone and see if they'd take an offer contingent on you clearing capspace. Alternatively, you talk with teams and make a deal contingent on having someone you want to bring in.

Forget cost, keep things in context I said better players in the draft than our bust selection

Exum will be back baby and any keyboard warrior who thinks otherwise (thriller) is entitled to her opinion ...

It ain't happening. Zanick got DL to move on from a couple things... lets not remove all of DL's security blankets. Exum is in a position where if he gives us something it's a bonus... we don't need him. It likely requires an asset to move them so no thanks for now.

Lol. Don't need him?
You want your starters and Royce and Ed playing all the minutes.
You don't think you need good defensive guards in the second unit? smh

I would trade Bradley to some place like Charlotte for a 2nd rounder. He played at UNC so maybe they have interest in a local project.

I wouldn't trade Exum. It's just not the right time.
