What's new

Neto is gone.

If Neto does clear waivers what's the salary difference between what his contract was and he'd make at the vet minimum.

I guess his contract wasn't guaranteed?

This post makes no sense. You think we cut him so that he will rejoin us and we can resign him again????
We only cut him to get under the lower-than-expected salary cap so we can execute the Conley trade. If he clears waivers, then we can resign him, which is what everyone expects.

Especially since his new contract will likely be the same as his old one. It just wasn’t guaranteed - which gave the Jazz the flexibility to get under the cap to make the Conley deal.

Hope he clears waivers and we can get him back. The fact that he gets injured when he plays significant minutes is less of an issue if he’s a 3rd stringer, and his playing very well when he does is more the point.

Why to we want to resign him now, and then resign him again once we clears waivers???????????

So Neto's salary for this upcoming year is/was supposed to be $2,150,000. If he cleared waivers, the most we could offer him on a minimum would be $1,882,867, which is a $267,133 difference, or a 12% reduction. I suppose you could offer a second year. He could choose Europe. But if someone else in the league wanted him, it would make more sense to grab him off waivers since the difference is pretty small, so I'd assume he wouldn't have other offers, unless someone is offering an unguaranteed minimum.

We would have kept him if we could, but at $2.15M, he's too expensive when we need that space for Conley. Maybe Wright-Foreman makes the active roster.
If the Jazz have to cut $2.15M from their salary budget to make room for Conley, then I don't expect any more signings until after July 6th.

According to Salt City Hoops, if we do the Favors trade and Bogdanovic signing before the Conley trade, we could keep Neto.
