Who's left

Chargers Jazz Angels

Taking a look at the Jazz players now under contract there are 2 spots available still and 2 2way contracts. Personally I think Oni and Brantley have earned the 2 way spots.

Depending on what you have for a depth chart I am looking at something like this

Conley, Exum, NWG
Mitchell, Mudiay
Ingles, O'Neale
Bogdonavic, Green, Niang
Gobert, Davis, Bradley

Depending on where you have Bojan getting his minutes the Jazz need a 2/3 and a 3/4

So lets see who is left

Shooting Guard - there are still a lot of options out there

Tyreke Evans 30 - I am a big fan but I think there are better options
Iman Shumpert 29 - Not a big fan
Kyle Korver 38 - to old now
Justin Holiday 30 - This would be interesting. played with Conley and is an average 3p shooter. But i would guess he would want a bigger role then the Jazz could offer
Lance Stephenson 28 - I love how he gets in other players heads and his own
Reggie Bullock 28 - I thought he signed some where
Vince Carter 42 - would be great for his farewell but dont see it
Jamal Crawford 39 - at one point yes but not now
Quincy Pondexter 31 - ehh
Corey Brewer 33 - maybe
Justin Anderson 25 - big fan but he cant shoot
Ian Clark 28 - former Jazz man
David Nwaba 26 - not a good shooter
Furkan Korkmaz 22 - Perfect developmental player love this
Wayne Selden 25 - again struggles from deep
Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot 24 - again struggles from deep
Sindarius Thornwell 24 - I like him but he was epicaly bad from deep
Tyler Dorsey 23 - I like this one but struggled some last year from deep
Dairis Bertans 30 - who??????
Nik Stauskas 25 - could do worse
John Jenkins 28 - good shooter always seemed like a jazz type player
Jodie Meeks 32 - could do worse
R.J. Hunter 25 - lol still trying to make it. Maybe if he played defense

Small Forwards - list is much smaller

Lance Thomas 31 - journeyman
Jonathon Simmons 30 - I could see DL liking the former spur. eratic on his 3 point shooting
Thabo Sefolosha 35 - best shooter on the Jazz last year
Luol Deng 34 - not sure how much he has left and he cant shoot
Sam Dekker 25 - I dont know why he cant shoot
George King 25 - played on the summer league is known as a shooter
Alex Poythress 26 - played well for the Hawks last year
Thanasis Antetokounmpo 27 - ehhh
Devin Robinson 24 - doesnt seem to shoot the 3 well
Troy Williams 24 - i like this one

Power Forwards - i prefer a 3/4 I think Niang is a PF project at the moment but here goes

Ryan Anderson 31 - curious to see what is left at the end of the bench
Jon Leuer 30 - maybe
Dragan Bender 21 - this would be a perfect trial for a year or 2
Marquese Chriss 22 - talented head case that cant shoot
Guerschon Yabusele 23 - looks fat
Dante Cunningham 32 - journeyman
Channing Frye 36 - oldie but goodie
Udonis Haslem 39 - to old
Jonas Jerebko 32 - the Haywood replacement
Tyler Lydon 23 - would be funny if we could turn him into something
Jarell Martin 25 - would prefer to work Brantley
Christian Wood 24 - ehhh
Cheick Diallo 23 - not a shooter
Henry Ellenson 22 - would be interesting reclamation
Kenneth Faried 29 - good player to through at the bigger wings
Ray Spalding 22 - dont know much
Donatas Motiejunas 29 - nah not any more
Eric Moreland 27 - is a good shot blocker
Tyler Cavanaugh 25 - hey one of our 2 ways
Alan Williams 26 - journeyman
Johnathan Motley 24 - ehhh
Jason Smith 33 - lol maybe 5 years ago
Amile Jefferson 26 - need shooting
Johnathan Williams 24 - ehhh

I think some of theee guys are committed elsewhere, such as Bullock, but just scanning the list, here are a few guys that I think could be serviceable in some regard and at least worthy of a spot. Some are controversial but would be a bigger discussion:

Shumpert - he’s shot the three respectably the past couple years. I think he could actually be a pretty valuable defensive body on the wing. Used to being out of the rotation at this point.

Korver - he was injured the end of the regular season and was a “game time decision” or something for game 1. I know his minutes reduce in playoffs, but I think health also played a big role in that and not just limited ability.

Lance Stephenson - would certainly be interesting. I think we have enough strong character to allow someone like a Stephenson to have value being him.

Vince Carter - mostly PR but would be kinda cool.

Justin Holiday - solid guy to have if he’s getting significant(ish) minutes due to injury.

Thabo - knows the system, another body.

Deng - assuming he has any D left.

Ryan Anderson - could have value, especially during stretches where he may see time due to injury. Really space the floor.

Channing Frye - same as above, but he’s probably cooked. Great locker room guy.

Tyler Lydon - only for teh lulz and to troll Denver.

Reggie Bullock - if he’s indeed available, but I’m pretty sure NY reworked his contract (health?).

Almost completely agree with this list.

i'm still available, not really sure how much i could contribute thought

but i still like the vacant spot of rudy's fragile brazilian buddy. just gimme the hello kitty bag, a minimum contract, and i'm happy to get in

I do think Lance Stephenson would be very interesting. Good guy off the bench. It could be like the Spurs grabbing Rodman back in the 90s, except he’s not as good as Rodman. But also not as many distractions as Rodman. Perhaps he’s a poor man’s Rodman on both ends of that.

I think we need a defensive 3/4 like Troy Williams or Sefolosha. But if Shumpert was willing to come at the minimum....more wings is always better.

If Thabo's willing to accept a likely reduced role, he'd be my first choice.

Apart from that, this is very much a crapshoot, like the second round of the draft. At this point, I'd probably be most excited by Nwaba or Troy Williams.

If the Jazz sign Oni and Brantley to two way contracts can another team offer them fully guaranteed contracts and steal them? I've never looked deeply into two ways.

Anyway I feel like the Jazz are just going to sign Oni and Brantley to the 15 man. It's not in the front office MO to spend money to buy second round picks. But they did so to get Oni and Brantley. I don't think they'd do that just to sign them to two way contracts and have each available for only 45 games.

Looks like this will be the roster imo

C: Gobert/Davis/Bradley
PF: Green/Niang/Brantley
SF: Bogdanovic/Ingles
SG: Mitchell/O'neale/Oni
PG: Conley/Exum/Mudiay/NWG
