Lol... when he was talking about the things they do for free agents like videos and gifts and iPads and such, based on the context, for a few moments I thought he said GIFs. Perhaps he did. Hopefully he’s using some of my GIFs.

Nope. If you listed to the interview, in it’s context it sounds like he could both be saying “giff” and “jiff.”

He was on NBA Radio late yesterday afternoon with Eddie Johnson and Justin Termine and he basically gave the same interview.
TBH I shut both of them off - he just doesn't give you much.

Doesn't matter. Acronyms which become words are pronounced as words in their own right, not as a combination of the words from which the acronym is created.

Um, not sure what video you watched. When I click the link it shows a video of the guy who invented gifs (Steve Wilhite) accepting a Webby award, and for his acceptance speech he showed a gif which gave the correct pronunciation of the word "gif".
