Utah Hikes

I’ve started hiking pretty much every week since the pandemic hit more than a year ago and have hardly scratched the surface of all the trails we have in Utah.

Recently, the mountain lakes in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyon have been a great way to escape the summer heat. So far I’ve hiked to Blanche, Desolation, Red Pine, Mary, Catherine, Lackawaxen and Cecret lakes. Can’t really name a favorite, all of them amazingly picturesque.

Also hiked some of the easier peaks close to SLC and in the nearby canyons, slowly working up to Mount Olympus this fall when the temperatures cool and I’m a little more fit. Anybody hiked Olympus and can advise what I’m in for?

What’s the elevation and distance of Olympus?

9,026 feet. 7.8 miles. Nice.

And straight uphill. Even hiking to the saddle is a quad killer as you get zero relief after you cross the stream/not much of a stream mid-way.

The last scramble can be a real challenge as the way isn’t entirely clear either and is a complete sauna when the sun is bearing down on you.

This was one of my favorites. I've been on so many damn cool hikes the past two years. I absolutely love Utah.

My dog and I hiking down in the Swell a few weeks ago. She's an amazing hiking buddy.

Anyone else ever hike to the Wildhorse Window? Easy hike up the Reef and is 100% worth going to.

Do this hike and Crack Canyon in the Swell if you get a chance.

The San Rafael Swell is a magical place. It speaks to me and makes me feel at peace and happy.

So many places to explore there.

Took my dog and mini camper to the Colonnade Arch/Five Hole Arch and Crocodile Rock.

It's pretty damn remote out here. I don't know how I have reception.

simply incredible photos. Were you just using your phones camera?
Was your dog hot as hell out there with all that fur?
I would like to see more of your camper from the outside. Is there something on the exterior for cooking and what not? A sink?

I put a lot of work into my camper. It has everything and I can tow it anywhere. Thanks, man. I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures.

It was high 70s low 80s so it wasn't that hot. My dog kills it in the heat though, I took her to Little Wildhorse in July. As long as there is some shade and cold water, she has a blast.

Took all the pictures with my phone. I think they double posted because of my internet connection. I can't believe I had service there because it's one of the most remote places I've ever been. I was the only one there and on the 35 mile dirt road. It takes nuts, stupidity, or confidence to go there alone. I always bring and carry the essential survivalist gear on my person or bring it with me. I am confident in my hiking and my outdoor survival skills. I always let people know where I'm going and when I should be home - they know if I'm not back by my blanket time then to call SAR.

The solitude was awesome!

I don't normally film vertically or post vertical videos, but I did here. These were all the quick clips I filmed on my phone I put all together.

That place was so fun. I can't wait to go back.

Did you make a fire at night?

Why not vertically? I don’t understand why ppl don’t shoot **** that way. It’s the way we see movies and tv.

This is shot vertically. I normally do everything horizontally and make my videos from my GoPro.

This is just a bunch of videos I made on my phone for things like IG stories or whatever. As much as I hate vertical films, if you can enlarge it in your phone then it's not half bad.
