Jerry Sloan is Dying from Dementia and Parkinsons

I shed a tear as I read this. He was a living legend as a coach and one of the best, but he never let the hype change him. He was just a man who worked as a coach for half the year and rode a John Deere tractor the other half of the year. He was always a big influence on my life growing up.

I remember one day as a 17-18 year old shopping for new glasses frames and seeing a pair with the John Deere logo on the glasses I snatched them up and wore them proudly till I could no longer find a pair with the logos.

I miss all the Jerryisms, NOW STOP JACKPOTTING AROUND AND PAY YOUR RESPECTS TO THE GREATEST COACH IN THE NBA!!

Yeah, unfortunately you could see it in him the last few years. Sadly it's to the point of no return now and we won't be seeing him at Jazz games anymore. Dudes as tough as they come.

Legends never die. Jerry SLoan will always be in my heart and mind. Stockton and Malone played their carreers in Utah because of their love and trust for their coach. They had his back and he had theirs. I love Jerry and never even met him , his no nonsense competitive intensity drove the jazz to great heights and will be sorely missed but never forgotten, because Legends never die.

As a fan, it is super sad seeing someone who was so tough through their life being so frail.

My best--and only--Jerry story was sitting a few rows behind the Jazz bench in New Jersey and reveling in the creative profanity he used throughout the night.

The sad part is that 77, while certainly an advanced age, is not a dead-end age anymore either. My parents recently moved to a retirement community in Florida - there are literally thousands of folks in their community in their mid-to late 70's living active, productive lives.
