Brian is one of the smarter talking heads out there, he seemed genuinely impressed with what Donovan was doing out there.

It's happening guys, Don is going to be the alpha on this team and get national attention through multiple games.

He casually links Mitchell to the players who take a massive leap forward their third year.

If Mitchell were to take a “massive leap” in progression he’s a superstar in every sense of the word. Beyond Lillard, George, Westbrook, Thompson...

If Mitchell improves on his 36.2% three point percentage this season his game is going to be next level. The D-Wade comparisons have always been accurate and Mitchell is showing he's superior to Dwayne on offensive (from an entire offensive game aspect). If he can get on Wade's defensive level... HOF.

Lol what?

Dwade on defense?

Dwade was an offensive monster. Dwade could draw foul after foul. Mitchell needs to work on this aspect. I did see a positive increase in this towards the end of the season though.

Being coached by Pop, Kerr, and whoever else has to be a big part of the benefit to his playing this. I feel like I haven’t seen that mentioned.

I was just thinking the same thing and scrolled down to your post. This has positives written all over it. I think the concern of injury or fatigue has taken a back seat to a huge upside.

Wade was an animal and much bigger than Mitchell. The comparisons aren’t perfect. Wade couldn’t shoot from 3 but owned the paint, midrange and could get to the free throw line at will. Mitchell isn’t as big and struggles more in the paint and getting to the free throw line but is a much better shooter from the outside.

I’m not so concerned about those things with Donovan as with Ingles and Gobert.

Wade isn’t “much bigger” than Mitchell.

Hmmm I stand corrected. I thought wade had a few more inches and muscle on mitchell. Looks like their height and size are very similar. Maybe it’s because wade played a lot more in the midrange that gives the perception he’s bigger and stronger?

So is Lillard, Westbrook and Thompson. That was his point

I would argue that they arent superstars. Imho there are only 5-6 players that should be considered superstars...

There is a skill gap between players like AD, Lebron, George, Harden, Curry, KD, Leonard etc and players like Westbrook, Lillard, and Thompson

I don't put George in the group with LeBron, KD etc.
He can't get out of the 1st round of the playoffs even with a good supporting cast

Being coached by Pop and conditioning for live action - big plus for DON.
Being coached by Kerr - nah... don't need this group drawing up their own plays.
One of Windhorst's main points was that, without superstars attending, the system needs to shine. (Should have had Quin vs Kerr)

Injury and fatigue aside, my biggest concern for DON is that he's not going to learn to be more efficient with this group, he'll continue last year's low(est) efficiency.
Listening too much to Locke, but with the retooled Jazz, he really needs to focus on choosing better shots and using his teammates.
For that, Team USA doesn't have as good a group as the Jazz.

They play with similar aggression and explosiveness. I think that's where most of the comparison comes from
