Wednesday 9/11 FIBA game thread

While Rudy was super impressive vs USA it was Fournier and DeColo who got them to playoffs. USA really needs to get their best players for Olympics, teams with Plumlee level players will never get them medals anymore.

Im sitting on my couch watching the game now (was too knackered to train tonight.)

if you start looking at the US team by position they no longer have the best player at every position like they used to. Probably cant pick a center that is in the top 5 in the world. Lebron isnt gonna play in Tokyo, KD aint, Curry? Harden and westbrook? Maybe. Leonard gonna play for Pop? Is the best available US side going to be that much better than this?

I can easily make better team than this without these players. All they need is solid core and some decent veteran 3 pt shooters. Lillard, George, Thompson, D. Draymond Green, A. Davis starting lineup, McCollum, D.Green, J.Collins, JJ Redick, Jrue Holiday, Jimmy Butler, and whatever backup center they can get ( Capella, Favors, whatever ) of the bench would kill it in Olympics.

Isn't KAT Canadian? Thompson isn't going to play off the back of an ACL. PG13? dunno AD maybe, Butler? who knows, doubt he does. My point is who is going to commit? I just don't see it happening.

No, the other overrated waste of money on the Wolves is Canadian.

It's looking like Gobert was the difference in this game. The talent level overall slightly favored USA, but they didn't have a big that could defend and rebound like Gobert.

he will be back for next years playoffs, Olympics will be way later, he should be good to go unless he does not want it.

Maybe. We will be back with the same team in Tokyo plus Exum, Maker, Brokerof and maybe Bolden and Simmons. Thats a solid core getting better.

I hope Donovan can be on the Olympic team, it will be tough to get on however though. I’d like to see him get a gold metal.

A dude who spams the board as much as you is the last person who can declare “enough”.

Reminds me of a street fight i was in once when a bloke was pleading 'enough! Enough!' And my boss said "no tap outs here' then a 200kg bin was dropped on the dudes head. Good times. No tap outs...

Gobert dominates the glass + dominates the clutch = victory

I knew the 5 position was going to hurt us in the tourney. Had we had a bigger center to wear down Gobert it would be a different game. But rock solid win for France. And great game for both our guys. Makes me more excited for the upcoming season.
