Trade Joe Ingles and Dante Exum for.....

Aaron Gordon. It would address the weakness in defending big wings. He can play 3, 4 and small ball 5 and the Jazz would increase athleticism. Ingles is the 5th best player on the team. Aaron Gordon is the 3rd or 4th best on his team. We have enough three point shooters. Go for more defense and athleticism.

Still remember that draft. Wanted him over Danté. Too bad... i still think Jazz would have done it

I think so too. Gordon was the David Locke Telegraphed Pick that year. Either way, Ingles/Dante isn't enough to get him.

Good hell... haven’t even hit the season and this bull **** starts.

Gordon is cool and all but Green/Royce/Bojan are going to give us like 80-90% of what he is imo. He’s not some lock down defender. They wouldn’t do that trade and I think Joe might be more in line with our current year goals. Please go to wherever @LoPo went and pitch this deal to him.

Good luck as to who is running the second unit in that case. Means Conley and Donovan minutes are fractured even further, and not syncronized as much as we would want to them to be on the court at the same time. Mudiay is still a big question mark.

I appreciate the trade suggestions, but if it's not a top 10/15 player in the NBA, where you do almost anything to get them, and then worry about matchups and combinations later, then you should probably look at team composition, and how a player like a Gordon would fit, and what disadvantages that would have.

My assumptions are

1. Orlando will dump talent to save money like they have done in past.
2. Jazz will be worse defensively because the team is smaller.
3. The second unit can survive trade.

Come the trade deadline I think this will be talked about especially if Exum is still unhappy.

Aaron Gordon is high energy, frenetic and crazy athletic. It could help bolster the defense against athletic big wings.

We are going to be pulling our hair out about defense and rebounding some nights, but for better or worse, the current roster will very likely remain past the trade deadline.

Almost every team has an Achilles heal. Teams adapt to exploit weaknesses. The Jazz have an obvious one and it will be exploited. The offense and Gobert and the focus will help but on some nights it may not be enough.

On your third point, is it also the assumption that Mudiay in fact comes out of this as our dude that runs the second unit efficiently?

If your achilles is fine do you still have an Achilles heal?

I wouldn't do the trade either, because if we do this, we are basically almost saying, we are 'sure' that Gordon is that missing piece.

So the question is, is he truly that dude?

EDIT: I should probably expand a little more. This trade goes through, question marks on Mudiay, Davis as to how they will play in the second unit. So then you have Jeff Green and Royce. There also might be a question mark on Green, so essentially, your depth is Royce O'Neale. Is Gordon that much of a game changer to completely shatter our depth? You do this for players like LeBron, Kawhi, Giannis, Kevin Durant.

I think we have a Favors/Gobert type problem when pairing Conley with Mitchell. They just don't mesh. Both need the ball in their hands to be the players they are. And both are weak defenders, especially when one or the other has to defend a much bigger SG.

Jazz would have been much better served finding a big SG to pair with Mitchell. Quin needs to minimize the time both play on the court together. If Royce is a 3&D guard, he needs to get mins opposite either.

Lindzanity replaced 3 starters with much worse defenders than their predecessors. And we're seeing the folly of that decision. Jazz are going to struggle this year. They aren't contenders. And won't be until Donovan gets moved to PG and we get a stud 3&D SG...if that ever happens.

No. But one year under Quinn and the development staff I think he becomes that guy. His shooting is streaky but it is good enough to stretch the floor. He hunts shots so that aspect could ruin the offense. I am assuming he defers to Mitchell, Bojan, and Conley and he becomes a 4th option.....so yeah his ego may get in the way.. which is true for most players.

You don't bring Gordon here, to be that dude, and be the 4th option.
