What's new

Blazers at Jazz tonight. 7 PM. Last game of preseason.

Despite the outcome, there are a lot of positives from this one.

Mudiay and Bradley both look much better than I expected, Conley looks like he is going to be great for us, Mitchell may finally turn that corner towards super-star, and our finishing lineup will be almost unstoppable on offense when Bogey's shot comes back.

We made it through the preseason without any additional injuries so that's a win as well.

I wasn't exactly thrilled about the Bogey signing at the time and he certainly hasn't eased those fears so far... Hopefully things look better during the real season.

I mean 18ppg last season with really high fg% is not a fluke....

He just been off. He will lock in...hopefully, but i have faith in the guy.

Haha. Not a fluke?

Actually when it only happened one year out of many then you probably should call it a fluke.

I didnt like it either. People acted like it was a superstar signing, when he didnt do much his entire career in the NBA except for a year and a half, and he's not young either.

We should be very worried it was bad signing.

He's been a good shooter his whole career and his percentages just keep going up every year. As our third option offensively I don't expect him to score as many points as he did last year when he was the Pacers first option but the shooting definitely isn't a fluke. Once he gets comfortable in the system and figures out where his shots are going to be coming from the shots will start dropping. Hell be over 40% from 3 for the season.

He'll bounce back, but I wouldn't be surprised if the best we see from him for us is at the level of serviceable starter and not the borderline star level that 18 ppg at high %'s points towards (and you hope for at his contract). If we wind up just getting a serviceable starter I'd have rather spent a bunch less money on a guy like Aminu to be our 4.

uh he lead the Olympic tournament in scoring.

I was at the game, had Row 9 seats. Here's what I can say:
** Both Mitchell and Conley were playing at full speed. Lillard started out blazing, as did CJ McCollum. However, our guards matched theirs overall in the 1st half.
** Mitchell's offensive game has matured, and he's picking his spots and playing with more intention than he has in the past. He's not settling for floaters. He's also getting to the foul line. He matched Lillard's output in the first half, shot for shot, which is a really good sign. He was getting his legs under him on his 3-pt shots and made 4/5. He was pressing later in the game, which hurt his percentage a bit.
** I still don't think Rudy was going full speed. He made efforts here and there, but his energy level was actually pretty low for much of the game. It'll be interesting to see how much he conserves his energy during games.
** The Blazers are basically the same team they've always been. When both Lillard and McCollum go off for big nights, they're very, very difficult to beat. But if even one of them is having an off-night, they're going to struggle to score enough
** Our starting forwards, Royce and Bogdanovic, combined for a total of 8 pts. on 2/15 shooting. That's why we fell behind. Not only did Bogdanovic not hit a shot, he didn't grab a rebound either. Sorry, but we just can't have that kind of lack of production from the forward spots. I can see why the Jazz are letting Bogdanovic play through this, but he's just off, and his effort wasn't great either.
** Mudiay can overpower other PGs and get downhill. He's able to make reads a bit and finish at the rim. He gives us a potential mismatch with the 2nd unit, so don't be surprised if we go to it quite a bit.

You're a dumbass and you deserve to be mocked

Bojan needs to default to shooting... simplify a bit. Green is being aggressive looking for his shot and capitalizing. Bring the playmaking later... just focus on getting buckets for now.
