Trade Joe Ingles and Dante Exum for.....

I think rebounding and defense are going to be a serious problem this year for us. Gobert is basically going to have to lead the league in rebounding percentage in order for the Jazz to be league-average and the Jazz are susceptible to teams that go five out (because most teams are).

Gordon provides an extremely rare combination of attributes and abilities that lineup with things the Jazz could sorely use (namely that he can switch all positions and has the ability to guard the corners AND protect the rim). Also, let’s dispense with comparing his 3pt shooting to Favors’, or that the larger roster context is in the same universe.

Bojan is really the more realistic piece to discuss here from both teams’ perspectives. Joe provides passing and defense that Bojan doesn’t, and having Joe vs Bojan creates more and better opportunities for Gordon.

I’m not sure how I feel about that. If you can find a way to turn Exum and whatever into Danilo Gallinari then it’s a homerun.

These are all unrealistic and one of the reasons the team looks bad is that this team requires an exceptionally high level of integration, so that is a consideration regarding what may be early season frustrations and also a reason to stand pat.

Almost every team has an Achilles heal. Teams adapt to exploit weaknesses. The Jazz have an obvious one and it will be exploited. The offense and Gobert and the focus will help but on some nights it may not be enough.

Our Achilles heal is Exum and he's been ded for a while now so not too worried about that.

Dante's not our most athletic player. Mitchell, Green and maybe even Oni are all more athletic than Exum. He's the fastest on the team but definitely not the most athletic.
Lol, he is not the fastest - this been discussed and proven by numbers numerous times. As far as athleticism add Royce to group of players who are both faster and more athletic than Exum.

I dont think the Jazz would ever trade Jingles. He not only super valuable contract but he is perhaps one of the most beloved players by a fanbase in the league. Salt Lake would riot if Joe was traded.

Really ? Not even to get rid of Exum ?

Love would help our rebounding immensely
I know it’s difficult for people to differentiate between unvarnished, ugly truth and hate when it comes to a player like Exum, but just so we’re all clear, I don’t hate Exum.

I think Exum’s already done most of his damage (his exorbitant salary for the last offseason which was a cap year) and will hopefully be given minutes or not on actual merit. I think it’s pretty clear at this point that the Jazz are completely prepared to not have him play (which is really the only thing that makes the Mudiay move make sense).

But more to the point, Love makes us a much worse defensive team and that is a bigger negative than the positive he’d provide on the boards. Also, if the Jazz wanted to spend that money on Love, they would’ve been in a better position to absorb most of that salary last offseason rather than sending back another 30+ player on a big contract.

No you just don't like him. Give yourself a uppercut!

Solid post, appreciate. Your dislike of Exum’s place although strong I’ve always found to be quite well reasoned . There’s a few others like MVP who truly pathologically hate to the point he even insists X isn’t fast
