Pacers shopping Sabonis

I think he'd fit great on the team. It's too bad the Jazz have no realistic way to get him.

He's on the block because he occupies too much space down low with Turner, who's already a competent shooter. It'd be an awful fit next to gobert. He's gonna be a top 10 starting center somewhere, but I don't think it's here.

I would love to see Sabonis on the team. Not sure how though. I feel like we are a favors from being secured a solid run through the playoffs. Having a talented big like that playing the 4/5 is something the jazz will wish we had if we see the lakers in the playoffs.

Don’t have the assets. I have to say I’d love to see how it would go but it’s not worth thinking about.

Also, we would be giving up assets for the chance to max an average starting center in the NBA. Yeah, hard pass. . .

Nah, think he's a bit over-rated as a player, poor fit, kind of tough to make a trade work (maybe Davis + pick or something) and going to make a bunch of money.

Some team with assets will go after him. He easily has the potential to score 20 PPG and pull down a good amount of boards.

No. We just moved on from having two overlapping centers and you want to acquire another one?. Not a good fit next to Rudy.

Unlike Derrick Favors, Sabonis can pass, dribble and shoot. He's not as good a defender as Favors and will get beat by quicker players out on the floor, but if Rudy were playing behind him, that might not be a problem. He'd give the Jazz the toughness and rebounding they've lost, and he might make them the favorites this year. The problem is that he wants $20M/year, and I think he wants more minutes at the 5, neither of which the Jazz can provide.

His situation is a lot like Jusuf Nurkic at Denver, who got traded to Portland for Mason Plumlee. I'd like Sabonis for the Jazz at around $14M or $15M, but not more than that.

Dude, philosophical question. Hypothetical. For discussion

Actually, if you look at what players in this situation have brought back in trades, it isn't much. Sabonis is still on his rookie deal at $3.5M and could only bring back another rookie-scale player or a near-minimum vet, plus a pick.

The Jazz got just a late first-round pick and the rights to Tibor Pleiss when they traded Kanter.

Denver had to give up 1st-rd pick along with Jusuf Nurkic in order to get Mason Plumlee and a 2nd-rd pick.

Probably a team will give up a bit player and a 1st-rd pick for the right to overpay Sabonis.
