Jazz v. T'wolves

It's been pretty rough. I'm not sure what the move is, but something really feels off, if we don't get a win in Minny I wouldn't be feeling good about our squad as the front office. Can't wait forever for things to click, we'll wind up the 5th seed again and flush our championship aspirations down the drain if we don't get our asses into gear.

The 2015-16 and 2016-17 Jazz were both 28th in offense. Which year are you referring to?

2016-2017. We were 12th in ORTG (109 per 100 poss) and 3rd in DRTG (104.7). Per NBA.com

Edit: in 2015-2016 we were 16th. I think you need to check your sources.

So, middling. Like I said.
It was a very good offense despite not having a superstar. And if I remember correctly we were top 10 for most of the year before having a bit of a slump at the end of the season.

I guess I see the glass half full, you half empty.

I'd like to see a lineup with Exum/Mitchell/Ingles/Bogey/Gobert. Exum may not be a perfect PG, but he's more of a PG than Mudiay. Mudiay is basically a scorer who really should stop pretending he's a PG. He needs to be like Tyreke Evans.

Really good stuff here from Andy Larsen. I thought he really hit the nail on the head on what's causing our offensive woes.

1. Mitchell 1Q missed Floater and 2. Conley TO are examples of what annoy me about our offense.

They both have Gobert run in with the driver and it ****s up the spacing. And and in Mitchell's case, it probably makes it even harder for Mitchell to see that Royce O'neale is wide open.

I see an offense that has never really clicked in a way we need it to click to be a contender. You don't challenge for a title with an offense that's half a glass. Whichever way you look at that half.

That's not true. 6 rebounds and 6 assists for Mike. He was after the boards, and gave a bunch of effort to get them. He also had only 1 turnover to those 6 assists.

Donovan was only good in one part of the game, for a guard. And that was rebounding the ball himself, with 7. If you were to ask me as to who lead the charge in this loss, it's Donovan. You should also expect more from him, than 5/24. A lot of his shots today were some of the worst forced shots you will ever see from him.
We traded valuable assets and space for Conley to do better than 6 assists and 6 rebounds. Yes, Donovan is more to blame for last night's loss. However, Conley was supposed to come here, be a threat, and make life easier for Donovan and everyone else. Conley has disappointed.

It was frustrating to watch Donovan yesterday. And not because he was missing shots. He was making back all the mistakes from last season with his shot selection. So often dribbling into packed paint with nowhere to go, again that ineffective floater.. He was so much better before just settling for a midrange from around the free throw line. He has to reset his mind again.

Bad game from Mitchell. Not a fan of him forcing up shots. He’s got to do a better job of getting his team mates touches and better looks.

But you can with a top 5 defense and a top 10 offense. So far the offense has been ugly. I'll wait at least a month until I really worry.

Mine wasn’t per 100, just ave PPG and since our offense is/was super slow that makes sense.

Also, 12th is your argument killer?

Our offense in the past worked when we were putting the ball "in a blender" and many times in Avenues threads opposing teams would comment how great it was. This year it's just not there, at times we have moved the ball well and looked great but a majority of the time it's just guys looking to score. This is the most prevalent in the 4th quarter as I don't think this team knows what to do. Instead of moving the ball and finding the best shot, we are going iso or taking forced shots.

I still preach patience but it's getting harder by the game. There have been moments where this team looks unstoppable but that is pretty rare. Most of the time we looked pretty soft and hesitant.

No one should ever use PPG and disregard pace.

We were top 9-10 for most of the year until the end, where we had a few games in the 80s-90s, which dropped us a few decimals and out of the top ten. Do the math if you want (but please not PPG). We were fine offensively, not a dismal 28th like you are trying to portrait.

Weren't we the slowest pace each of those years?
