What's new

August 19 --> ENES KANTER's is staring now :) >>Turkey - Greece<<< LIVE MATCH LINK HERE :) <<<

Turkey wins :cool:
Glad to see Enes get involved in the Offense today, even though he missed a few, I still liked his hustle, rebounding, and D effort.

I think he had 5 and 7, but it should have been 7 or 9 points, since the refs missed an obvious goaltend and called a travel on a nice baseline move by Kanter to the basket. Kanter might have been the best all-around defensive player for Turkey, spending a chunk of time in the second half guarding out on the perimeter (with Semih Erden down low for some strange reason...).

This is the first I've seen him play (other than highlights), and I was surprised how good he looked given the bad reports so far. He should be able to rebound right away in the NBA, he runs the floor better than recent Jazz bigs (Memo, Boozer, AJ), and he seems to know where he should be and establishes position quite well. He needs some work setting screens, but that shouldn't be too hard, I'd guess.

According to the boxscore, Enes had 7 and 8 on 3/7 shooting in 14 minutes. If you correct for the missed (obvious) goaltend, that's 9 and 8 on 4/7 shooting. A decent showing IMO. I'd say Enes was Turkey's second best player after Asik in this game.

I've watched them all, I think. I never thought he looked 'bad' .. obvious rust, obvious in too much of a rush, but mostly just really (like REALLY) poor game planning and getting no touches at all. This game was light years better from the appearance of the coach having a clue how to, well, coach.

Turkey's guard play was terrible, with Hedo leading the charge. Enes may have been the best perimeter defender on the team (no, really).

Belgium with no NBA level players should be no match for 2 place finisher in last World Championship with 5 NBA players on roster - I am very surprised at how poorly Turkey team plays in general so far. I hope to see Kanter vs Kaman/Nowitzki tomorrow... that would give us better idea.

Cenk Akyol 3 (2 ribaund), Sinan Güler, Ömer Onan 6 (2 ribaund- 1 asist), Ersan İlyasova 11 (4 ribaund- 1 asist), Semih Erden 9 (3 ribaund), Kerem Tunçeri 6 (1 asist), Ömer Aşık 12 (9 ribaund), Ender Arslan 3 (3 asist), Enes Kanter 7 (8 ribaund), Hidayet Türkoğlu 2 (4 ribaund- 5 asist), Emir Preldzic

Belgium only has one NBA player Mbenga. If you are counting Hervelle as well he never played a minute in the NBA even though he was the first Belgium player ever to be drafted by a NBA team (Denver) in 2005 (52nd player drafted).
