2015 Draft

I saw a blurb that Sam Dekker had a big game for a Russian team and was surprised he was not still in the league. I noticed that seven first round picks from that draft are out of the league at this moment. The Jazz picked Trey Lyles that year so we aren't the only team that misses on prospects.

Trey Lyles became Donovan... the universe made it so

I remember posting way back when that I had a nightmare that we drafted Dekker. I also remember that media people and non-Jazz fans thought we were dumb for not drafting Cam Payne since we didn't have a point guard lol.

Trey Lyles was the steal of the draft as it netted us Mitchell.

You had the top-3 guys in KAT, Russell and Porzingis, after that things become questionable... lotta players that didn't pan out..

I was pretty high on Lyles, looking back at the draft Stanley Johnson is the most shocking underperformer.

There was a significant Bobby Portis crowd here, I'm not sure that alternate reality works any better for Utah.

I was also an Oubre guy til the very end, the logic on it was sound: this is insurance for if Hayward bolts. That woulda been weird.

Remember thinking after the 1st round; "no way there's 29 players better than Kevon Looney in this draft"

Is Utah gonna try to swing for one of those Terry Rozier or Tyus Jones level outperformer 1st rd PG's this year???

If you look at the top 10 of that draft...

KAT
D'Angelo Russell
Okafor
Porzingis
Hezonja
Cauley-Stein
Mudiay
Stanley Johnson
Frank The Tank Kaminsky
Justise Winslow

...only two guys are on the team that drafted them! Winslow and KAT. (And KAT is seriously on the trade block right now.)

Well to be fair... the Lakers trading away D'Lo in year2 has proven to be a major blunder, and it didnt make much sense at the time either...

Mudiay was the player on that list that i trusted the least going into the draft, just remember him getting his jumpers blocked by skinny chinese players and thinking "IDK bout all this..."

Winslow isn't exactly a very good NBA player either... Gimme Oubre over him anyday of the week.

Dekker had a great tournament in 2015 during Wisconsin's Final Four Run.

As a result he was overvalued big time in a mediocre draft - bad combination. Probably a second round talent.

And it looks like a major blunder for Brooklyn, too.

Kyrie? I have suited up for more games than he has this year. The team is a shambles. Last year the Nets were a top team (great young players, great coach) on the way up. Injuries and getting zilch from Kyrie have turned a promising team into one that is going to struggle to even make the playoffs.

Letting D Russell go really hurt that team. Yeah, everybody on Earth would have replaced him with Kyrie...but that doesn't mean it was the right thing to do.

Also worthy of note is that a lot of really low%, ****** flyers were taken at the end of the 2nd rd. quite a few superior players went undrafted.
