2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

Right. But I’m not sure why Miami does that. We can’t just keep trading garbage for NBA players AND getting off bad money simultaneously. It’s not realistic.
Davis is still good though outside of 20 games with us, half of which were coming back from injury. As of July he’s a lot more valuable than Leonard. They get a guy who’s still serviceable first them, plus getting a prospect with a higher ceiling than anyone else in the deal.

Both Davis and Bradley get raises next year.
$8.5M is a good player. While I still believe Davis is a good player, if $8.5M counts just him on the bench, I’d rather have someone that isn’t Bradley.

I’d like Leonard because we cut $8.5M of salary from next year. If we resign Royce and Clarkson, we’re pushing into luxury tax if we use the MLE. This alleviates that pressure.

Can we re-sign Royce and Clarkson? I haven't looked into any of the offseason cap stuff yet. That would be cool if we could. Especially if Clarkson keeps playing well.

I believe we have bird rights on both players. So yes. And we can sign another player with the Mid Level.

If you really need to ship out Conley, you can trade him straight up for Al Horford. He would solve your PF problem, but we would be on the hook with his contract for three more years\ at around 27 million. I'd bet Philly would bite on that. Maybe we could get them to throw in Thybulle and we ship them Davis for depth since we would be doing them a favor.

We have bird rights on both. Royce is restricted. If they sign for a combined $25ish million, it puts us into luxury tax territory.

Can't do anything like that with Rudy and DM both due for maxes in 2 years. Conley at least fit perfect into our timeline.

You can do that. First, team’s pay money to be contenders. Second, you can move off deals.

not sure if philly wants anyone other than Simmons as their starting point but conley'd work perfect in a backup point guard role if they can work out his salary, like what Hill's doing for the bucks.
