2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

I really hope Portland nose-dives and Ariza hits the buyout market.

Terrence Davis (TOR) is impressive. He already is a solid rotation player and might even be a star some day. Masai did his thing again.
Davis went undrafted last season. Utah drafted three players in the R2 and passed on this gem.

And that's why they won the championship and 29 other teams did not.

Tor won the championship because of Kawhi AND their elite management/development of assets/talents. Teams need to match their level if they wanna compete for a championship.

Jazz did well with the Brantley and JWF picks. Those are NBA-caliber players with upside.

Not making any comments about us in specific. Just saying that to truly contend for a championship, good teams need to uphold themselves to a higher standard instead of making those “well, 28 other teams missed that too” type excuses.

I believe he told teams not to draft him in the second round so that he could be a free agent and earn a better contract. Bet on himself and won.

I am not as optimistic as some here regarding the playoffs. I wait and see how the Jazz do against playoff teams right now. They are 0-2 against the Lakers, 0-1 against a undermanned Rockets team, 2-0 against the Thunder. They haven't played the Nuggets. They are 2-1 against the Clips with them not at full strength in two of the games.

The Rocket loss hit me hard because they are the team the Jazz haven't beaten the last two times in the playoffs. I think the Jazz are going to get kill rebounding if other guys don't pitch in and help out. I also think a lack of length/size is a problem. I have doubts about physical toughness. Those are my concerns while there is a lot to be excited about too. Jazz have the ability to shoot the lights out, we have Rudy. On offense we have multiple guys who can create on their own. I just need to see the Jazz rebound for the horrible loss against the Rockets and go on the road and win 2 out of 3.

That Rockets game was flukey. The way the Rockets defend requires game planning that the Jazz didn't really do. Eric Gordon is unlikely to go off for 50 pts on high efficiency, like he did the other night. If the Jazz hold Gordon to, say, 37 points, they'd have won. The Jazz also looked emotionally sapped in the first quarter after the Kobe tribute. Jazz can beat the Rockets if they prepare adequately.

Still on Ed Davis for Josh Jackson ship. Better contract(1 yr expiring versus 2) for a better player who fits a need on our team. Jackson wouldn't be available if he doesn't have off court issues. A truly low risk high reward type move that makes sense

Wtf are you talking to? Has somebody been advocating for doing poorly in the draft as a route to teh championship?

Because Toronto won last year, it becomes the standard. If Denver wins this year, everybody needs to stockpile a lot of collective talent. If Milwaukee wins, everyone needs to get a generational talent and create a good offense and defense. If Philadelphia wins, everyone needs to tank for multiple years. And heaven forbid the Jazz win it all this year, the jom2003 of 29 other teams’ message boards will be railing on the “zomg we need to be making big moves like Utah to bring in Conley” repetitions.

But it’s funny. Toronto swung on a pitch that was a bit outside and hit a home run. We’ve also hit home runs by swinging on pitches in the zone, but let’s focus on a couple pitches we whiffed on that were also in the zone.

That’s all I was saying is that you can’t sit and say well what if. Focus on what you have and where you can improve with where we are at.

Dennis Schroeder has deleted his instagram and references to the Thunder in his social media. There's a rumor that he's going to get traded at the deadline. Not sure if the Jazz would be interested, but Quin really loves him. He does what Mike Conley does at half the cost.

Apparently he does this every year per interweb rumors.
