2020 Presidential election

Go talk to a family in Flint about how the economy is doing well. Headass.

Flint isn’t a place we need to win over. We’ve already won that county and still lost the state in 2016. So why do we need to talk to a family there when they already most likely will vote blue? We won it in 2016. Maccomb, kent, and Ottawa we lost and it cost us Michigan. Maybe we should talk to them?

maybe you should take a break from posting? You seem to be getting angry.

This is exactly the kind of thinking that makes people absolutely hate Democrats fwiw.

I normally defend you on this forum cuz I think ppl are unnecessarily harsh— but saying that we should stop giving a **** about people drinking sewage for water because “we can count on their votes” really says it all on the bleak zeitgeist of Democrat politics.

most of you truly do not deserve bernie sanders. ****, he probably realizes it himself. but, y’all need him, he realizes that, and he’s going to change the world for the better. blessings to him. I’m bowing out of this convo— looking forward to hearing about you voting for him in the general, and Colton finding a way to justify not voting bernie when this strengthens trumps chances (a politician he ‘hates’)

I could honestly keep going, but this isn't a "well they both suck the same" situation. None of the potential Democratic candidates, nor any of the other Republicans challenging Trump, are as bad as Trump. If the choice was Trump or Pence I'd vote for Pence. If the choice was Trump or Barr I'd vote for Barr.

Well, you're in luck. You're probably going to get all three.

why? Being more liberal in coastal areas while playing more moderate in more conservative areas is called good politics. AOC wouldn’t have won district 4 in utah but Ben McAdams did. Omar wouldn’t have won district 14 in Pennsylvania but Connor Lamb sure did.

Compare that to Misty Snow getting obliterated by Mike Lee in 2016 because he was a transgender Democratic socialist who worked at Harmon's with a college degree. Ridiculous. But running an ideologically pure candidate and getting obliterated in the election is our MO. We need to face it, if we want to beat someone like mike Lee, we need to run a conservative Democrat with credentials from one of the two major universities and they need to be mormon. Anything less than that is basically waving the white flag by nominating an unelectable candidate.

For me, I’m tired of losing. I’m fine playing politics and winning.

If we can’t run electable candidates with the ideological flexibility to relate to their unique districts and states, then we should just fold up our tents and let trump and the GOP do whatever they want. We won’t be able to compete outside of major cities and coastal areas.

where did I say we shouldn’t care about flint?

you said, “Go talk to a family about how well the economy is doing in Flint...”

The inference here is that we need to cater to them and listen to them to win them over. We already have. And Democrats are doing what they can to help them. What is their Democratic Governor doing to help? What about their republican legislature?

What I’m talking about is beating trump. We won’t beat trump by talking to people (like those in flint) who are already voting blue. We need to talk to people who voted for trump (or 3rd party or stayed home) last time.

It seems like you’re wanting to talk about different issues. I’m talking about running electable candidates to retain control of the house and win the senate and White House in 2020. I’m unsure what @Zombie and @dalamon are arguing about. But to clarify, in no way do I think Flint shouldn’t be rebuilt and those people be provided clean water. Soooooo... yeah.

It's conceivable that Bernie could win in Nevada. It's been a blue state for a while. Bernie also has an army on the ground there for the primary. You're still not going to get Republicans or conservative-leaning Independents to participate in pre-Democratic primary polls.
I meant to link to the page with all the swing state polls, not Nevada specifically. If you click the drop down menu that says General election you can see for yourself how well he and others are polling against Trump in swing states.

Bernie's leading in Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Ohio, Wisconsin, Nevada and others. Tied in Florida.

I honestly don't think Bernie would beat Trump in any of those states--maybe he gets Nevada. I don't think he'd even get Michigan. He won't get Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, or Pennsylvania. Maybe Wisconsin is close again, hard to say. I think Bernie could even lose Virginia, New Hampshire and Colorado--states that Hillary won last time around.

I don't think you're getting people who plan to vote for Trump to participate in polls. They have no stake in it right now.

In order to beat Trump, the Dems need a strong candidate and they need unity. Right now, they don't have either. Trump is about as popular with Republicans right now as Obama was with Dems during 2012, and he's gained several points with Independents during the impeachment fiasco.

Maybe? I'm not sure I've ever heard that people need to have a "stake" in order to respond to a poll, but OK.

In any case I think you're underestimating the level of support Bernie has managed to gain among the working class across the country. His base of support isn't coming from the same place as Hillary, and pretty much every Dem that voted for her will cast a vote to get Trump out of office.

Also lol at Sanders not winning Colorado, that one's in the bag.

There's no doubt that Sanders has more support than any other single Democratic candidate right now. If a couple of the more moderate candidates dropped out of the race, and their support consolidated behind the one remaining, then that might change. He's leading a weak field. Lets see how this plays out. You're welcome to sig anything I've written here.

This is high comedy.
I'll have you to thank for 4 more years of Trump. EAD, Eat MY Dick. **** you and **** your "if the Democratic nominee isn't perfect than we deserve Trump" perspective.

Seriously. You are going to give us 4 more years of Trump.

High comedy? I want to bash your stupid ****ing brains in with a hammer right now.

That would be high comedy.

He shares Trump's authoritarian tendencies and his racism, both things are much more dangerous when wielded by someone with competence. He's a warmonger who still believes the war in Iraq was justified, and gave many a speech in support of it.

From stop and frisk to creating a surveillance state for Muslims in New York to illegally detaining protestors he's repeatedly shown he's a danger to freedom in this country.

More than anything though his nomination would mean that democracy in this country is truly dead or at the very least dying. Are we really willing to hand the presidency over to an oligarch who simply paid his way into office?

If Trump and Bloomberg are our choices I'm out. **** that.
I still think the war in Iraq was justified. I'll give you the 1000 word explanation if you really want it. It's not the same story Bush gave. But I think there was justification for that war.

Well, you're in luck. You're probably going to get all three.
One bad apple spoils the bunch...

And all three are bad apples, I'd just take the one's with a few worms over the one that will give me gonorrhea.

bernie polls better with independents than all of your **** stain neolib candidates
**** you!

You are going to help get the U.S. 4 more years of trump because it's all or nothing for Sanders for you.

Stay out of our ****. We want something better than Trump. That's all. Just something better than Trump.

The perfect is the enemy of the good. Anyone familiar with that statement? Well that's what's happening here. In our quest for perfect we are going to sacrifice the good and we'll end up with Trump, a ****ing dumpster fire.

What might tomorrow bring? I hope something better. I'm logging off for the night...

Does your thousand-word explanation for the Iraq war involve Saddam refusing to allow a Rothschild-controlled central bank, or the U.S. military seeking to control an ancient alien technology site?

Yeah, that's the central argument.

Spoiler alert next time dick face.
