2020 Presidential election

Every candidate has toxic followers online. Bernie supporters are by far the least, it's just a media narrative.

I wasn't talking about any general group. I was talking to you, about your interactions. Whether you want to face up to the consequences of your behavior is up to you.

Well I mean he would just have to look at history.
There was a time when the super wealthy were being taxed very heavily. Things were better for the middle class then.

Except most people know that's either an outright lie, myth, or over exaggeration.

FYI, it was only ever about 6% higher, which coincidentally happens to be exactly how much Obama's effective tax rate increased taxes on the wealthy.

Good luck convincing the many., many people I know who have succeeded at moving up in socio-economic class that it can't be done.

Since the link offered said that it can be done, but it's just hard here and less likely to be done than in countries like Denmark or Iceland, why would anyone try to convince them of some lie you puled out of your rectum?

I’d rather nominate a moderate Democrat who can win swing states and not be an albatross around moderate House Democrats necks, than lose to Trump and giving the House away by nominating the purist ideologue possible.

And yes, even though you didn’t mean it as a compliment, I will happily accept sounding like a campaign strategist as one. I want to win in 2020. I’m tired of Trump and Moscow Mitch
This is going to be a tough, close election no matter who the Democrats nominate. Trump will be at least a slight favorite against any one of them. I’ve supported Warren all along, but her campaign has been a disappointment, and while the last debate was a boost, if she doesn’t turn it around in the next week or two she will be done and I will have to look for someone else to support.

How about you Thriller? The Utah primary is a week from this Tuesday, you must have a preferred candidate by now. Rather that go on ad infinitum about what a disaster Sanders is and how much better an abstract moderate would be, make the case for your candidate. To me, they all have their flaws and will have an uphill battle against Trump, but go ahead and make the case for the candidate that will beat Trump, hold the House, and potentially win back the Senate. Tell me who is this magic moderate I should be supporting?

"where did I say we shouldn’t care about flint?

you said, “Go talk to a family about how well the economy is doing in Flint...”

The inference here is that we need to cater to them and listen to them to win them over. We already have. And Democrats are doing what they can to help them. What is their Democratic Governor doing to help? What about their republican legislature?"

yeah so nothing in that quote says what you think it says. And I’ve already clarified twice about Flint. So at this point you seem to be grasping at straws ignoring what I’ve already explained and clarified (twice).

That is a significant problem because this cast of Democrats don't exactly have an all-star candidate. But I believe Bernie Sanders is the easiest for the GOP to campaign against and will be the hardest for down ballot Democrats to survive. Sanders doesn’t expand the electorate, he shrinks it. I fear that whatever gains he might make with the white working class will be lost in the suburbs and minority communities. Expand the map and win.

That’s the lesson we should’ve taken away in 2018. Apparently we’ve forgotten it already.

Example: Moderate Ben McAdams expanded the map in utah and won. Ideologue AOC would’ve shrunk the map and lost to Mia Love.

I won’t vote for Sanders in the primary but will vote for him in the general if he ends up being the nominee. I’ll never vote for Trump.

Progressive AOC expanded the map in Brooklyn and won, moderate Ben McAdams would have shrunk the map and lost.

Which parts of the electoral college map do we need to win back in order to beat trump? Parts that are similar to Brooklyn or D4 in Utah?

I don't think it's an either or proposition. Also Bernie has more donations from white suburban women than any other candidate--sounds like a win in swing states to me.

well see.

Just out of curiosity, why do you think Trumpworld wants to face Bernie so badly in the general?

You keep saying that Sanders doesn't expand the electorate and things of that nature.

I'm not a Democrat. I will vote that way this year simply cause **** trump.
However, if it were a different opponent than Trump then Bernie is the candidate that would give me hope and get me excited and get me out to give him my vote. None of the other Democratic candidates would get me to a voting booth to enthusiastically vote for them.

Bernie is passionate, compassionate, driven, a hard worker, sincere,..... Listening to him speak inspires me and gives me hope and makes me feel good.
None of the other candidates do that for me. Go ahead and keep hating on him but I think he has a large number of Americans who are extremely loyal to him. Not sure you can say that about any one else. Except maybe trump

I'm not convinced they do. Everything Trump says ought to be taken with a grain of salt, as you should be well aware of by now.

It's also possible they are miscalculating. In either case I'm not about to let Trump world dictate who I'm going to support, especially based on something as nebulous as "electability."
