I'm not in the habit of humoring the trolls. Even if I was exaggerating (which I assure you I wasn't) it doesn't change the point that working class people shouldn't have to pay additional tax for working more than others.

For example, game face is in the 12% tax bracket and directly pays the employee portion of FICA. Gameface worked 500 hours at a second job in 2019 making $20/hr. Gameface would have to pay the IRS an additional $1,965, plus roughly ,$500 to the state. Then when gameface spent the remainder he'd have to pay about an extra $650 in sales tax. I don't think our friend gameface should have to pay all that extra money because he chose to work 500 hours more than his neighbors. In fact, I think not only should his additional IRS and state bills be $0, he should also be refunded the $765 his employer paid in FICA on his behalf.

A tax change like this could really help the working poor out. Even if they don't make enough to pay any federal taxes.

I’m really happy that @jazzfresh is so upset about Trump’s trillions of record spending and trillions of record debt and trillion+ of record deficits.

Hope he restarts the TEA party to protest.

I agree social democrat is the most accurate term to describe his economic policy agenda. It’s a puzzle then why he prefers democratic socialist. His campaign has to have put a lot of thought into using the more radical term, so they must have their reasons.

One idea I have is that he wants a term that goes beyond economic policy. Just saying you want to update FDR’s New Deal, or pointing to Sweden or Norway as the economic model you have in mind, may have been determined to lack enough zest to energize his base. Maybe democratic socialist is more useful to help describe his political agenda, which really is radical. Sanders wants a political revolution. He wants to remake the Democratic Party and overthrow the entrenched establishment that supports both major parties and to do that he needs to mobilize millions of new supporters.

Anyway, for now I’m still supporting Warren, but actively looking at Sanders for if and when she drops out. Obviously, I still have a lot to learn. Hopefully, Sanders supporters here can help put the puzzle together.

Klobuchar is awful. I wouldn’t want her as my mayor let alone running this country.

Biden seems to be coherent tonight. Probably the first time in months.

Pete’s a ghost. This hurts him. Warren isn’t much better.

It’s a two horse race with Bernie and Bloomberg imo.

It's funny cause whenever I think about money I think in terms of "that would pay down a good chunk of my home equity line of credit, or my mortgage, or my medical bills"
