The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

WTF? Imagine if Trump (or anyone on the right) posted something like this. The cries of racism would explode every eardrum in the nation.
Relax.

They're meant to be childish voices... where did you get race?

The only adult voice is Mitt's, and possibly Mueller's (although he does call the president "Trumpy", and does not use a respectful title.)

Weird way to frame that. Are you sure he wasn't being called racist because he was ******** on a foreign film made by Asians?
It's so much fun to try to inject racist motivations into everything, at least if you're on the left. Trump did not say anything racist about the film. I doubt that he saw it or cared to see it. It seemed to me that he was just promoting America. That's something he really likes to do.

I've seen Parasite, BTW. It's pretty weird. Ford v.s. Ferrari was a much better movie, IMO. Would Trump's comments have been interpreted as racist if he had said that?

Yes, you know they would, because if there is a way to interpret anything Trump says as racist (meaning if there is any way you can possibly connect race into the subject matter) you can rest assured that the usual suspects will do it. (That was my point in bringing up racism in regard to the earlier post. The rules on these kind of attacks clearly only flow one way in the minds of the woke crowd, though.)

I'm saying that if someone on the other side of the political aisle had thrown that out there (especially the president) they would get crucified for it.

I'm confident I will never hear an apology from you when the apocalypse which you are predicting does not strike.

I'm equally confident I won't be apologizing for something I never did, such as predicting an apocalypse. What I did state, during the 2016 Republican primaries, is that Trump was a right wing demagogue, and it would be a terrible mistake to put such a man in the Oval Office. I predicted this would lend itself to an increase in the authoritarian tendencies in the Executive Branch of our government.

Recently, Adam Serwer did a great job of summarizing what he termed authoritarianization, the process by which a democracy transitions into an authoritarian regime. It's the essay from The Atlantic that I posted a few pages ago. What he described in that essay is what I feared would happen, and that is what, in fact, is happening, IMO. We'll see where it all ends. And for this, I should apologize? I don't owe you anything, least of all an apology. On several occasions, I tried to see if you and I could find some common ground. Certain recent replies on your part ended that experiment, and for good. And that does sadden me, but I gave it a shot. No more.

It's truly sad what is happening to you and people like you on the left.

Sad? On the contrary, as I've often told my friends, one should never sleep walk through that part of history that is yours to live. I'm not the one wearing blinders. I see clearly what is going on, and I'm humble enough to know how lucky I am to be in that position. It's like a form of grace. I am extremely grateful for such a blessing. I could have been unlucky, and be wearing the same blinders you are wearing. I'd like to say I feel badly for you, and people like you. And maybe I do. But, maybe I think you're right where you deserve to be. Clueless, sleepwalking through that part of history that is yours to live.

Yeah, I think it's too bad that our opinion of one another has gone into the toilet. And I wasn't suggesting you might need to apologize for where you think America is going. I was suggesting that you might eventually want to apologize for insulting the intelligence of everyone who doesn't agree with you.

FWIW, I agree that he probably wasn't intending to sound racist when he made the comments. I also agree that he was trying to promote America and also clearly wanted to take shots @Hollywood. I didn't like his comments. He should promote America in a different and more constructive way if he wants to do that.

As far as the whole racism thing, you're ironically just as sensitive to people pulling the racism card as those who are pulling it. You're also attributing the characteristic of oversensitivity to a large swath of people who aren't so sensitive.

(Parasite and Ford vs. Ferrari don't belong in the same conversation. Glad to see that the Academy agrees with me. I didn't think they'd have the balls to award a foreign film.)

Why would it make us feel better about the Democrats of the 1800s?
I don't know... It honestly baffles me why you all automatically think of a person's skin color no matter the conversation. It blows my mind how you all can use the race card about nearly anything. It's a fantastic tool for Democrats to use politically I guess no matter how wrong using these people are.

I'm trying not to be a dick and I'm not insinuating anyone is racist but it's too much. The word had completely lost its meaning when people throw it around just to do it.

You keep thinking that I was calling the post racist. I was saying that it would definitely be deemed as racist by the left if it was written by someone on the right. That is something that happens again and again.

I have a friend who has an Academy vote. He watches a lot more movies than I do (probably by a factor of ten). He voted for Parasite and was thrilled that it won. I can understand why people who watch lots and lots of movies would feel that way. He can understand why lots of people who don't watch tons of movies would agree with me. (Both he and I knew that Ford didn't have a chance.)

Seems like you should be yelling at Joe B for this. Nobody here pulled the race card today until Joe did. And what do you mean "You all"?
It's hysterical that the sorts of people who consistently baffle the right by pulling the race card are completely baffled by having the race card pulled on them.

BTW, math is still racist, right?

To be fair, Trump has a history of making racist comments. I don't.

The whole birther thing had a racist taint. Not to mention some of his comments about "blank hole" countries and preferring Scandinavian immigrants.

Nah, I don't think you think it's racist. It's clear that you think that "The left" would think the post was racist which is a super weird thought to have.

You preemptively pulling the "pulling the race card" card in this instance only shows that you're misguided about what people are offended by and why.

To be fair you are interpreting those comments to be racist. The birther thing may have been because he did not like Obama's policies and believed he could force him out of office due to the birth requirement. The "blank hole" comment may have been because he could see that certain countries have an inferior infrastructure to other countries. The Scandinavian comment might have been because he believes that immigration from those countries would benefit America.

Ok, you may be right... then again maybe he is a bit racist.

From the article I referred to...

"...His statements have been reflected in his behavior—from public acts (placing ads calling for the execution of five young black and Latino men accused of rape, who were later shown to be innocent) to private preferences (“When Donald and Ivana came to the casino, the bosses would order all the black people off the floor,” a former employee of Trump’s Castle, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, told a writer for The New Yorker). "

There are plenty more quotes in the article.
