What's new

Conley Benched

He’s been playing horrible lately. Routinely makes bad passes but hits Rudy in the pick-n-roll every once in awhile so he’s amazing.

Ingles gets put on a pedestal around here for some reason.

He leads the team in assists, is averaging less turnovers and has a better assist/turnover ratio than any of our other ball handlers. He also clearly has the best chemistry with Rudy. He's definitely been in a slump over the last 10 games or so but he's still averaging over 6 assists a game over that span.

Cy the contrarian is the only one who doesn’t think this was botched. Seemingly not anyone else here, based on their diction, not any journalist who’s written about it, and based on interviews with Quin where he’s obviously uncomfortably measured, not him. No one except Cy. What a ****ing shock.

I'm not sure about it.

How do we know this was not the sequence?

1) Before practice, Snyder tells team Conley will be coming off the bench
2) Practice
3) After practice, Snyder with others decides, based in part on the practice, to change the rotation
4) Snyder doesn't feel comfortable in an interview about the change

Defense is not primarily about effort?

Let me get this straight. We don’t try which is why we’re ranked 12th, but the truth is we are much better? But every other team tries and thus their defensive ranking is accurate? Yeah, makes sense.

Of course I think it was botched. When did I say otherwise?

Split the team into two and play on alternating nights. This would address chemistry, match-ups, and fatigue. Maybe even get a second coaching staff. Call up all our G-league players and let them play bench minutes both nights to fill out the rosters. Jazz A and Jazz B.

Starters:
Jazz A
  • Donovan
  • Royce
  • Ingles
  • Morgan
  • Gobert
Jazz B
  • Conley
  • Clarkson
  • Mudiay
  • Bojan
  • Bradley

No... for instance I think Niang tries very hard... just slow AF and no other physical attributes that help.
Good point, and some people just have a feel for it, like NFL receivers couldn't play corner to save their life.

There's my boy Hannahs knockin down threes for Memphis, picked him up off the street

Brilliant, employ the 'Mark Jackson' strategy. It worked for the jazz in 2003.

All teams apply effort equally to other teams? All teams apply effort consistently throughout the season?

If effort is not a factor, why would our defensive efficiency go up and down over the course of a season?
