Coronavirus

And Chinese activists confront censorship....

The censorship in China is terrible. I'm not sure most people in China care about it though. I wish more people cared and would push for this to change in China. I was shocked to find out that many people in rural areas had no idea what a vpn is or why they would need one. I'm not sure they knew a lot of the internet is blocked to them. Everybody in bigger cities knows this and has a vpn.

Whistleblower: US workers without protective gear assisted coronavirus evacuees.

"The whistleblower is seeking federal protection, alleging she was unfairly and improperly reassigned after raising concerns about the safety of these workers to HHS officials, including those within the office of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar. She was told Feb. 19 that if she does not accept the new position in 15 days, which is March 5, she would be terminated".

If only we had evidence of Trump reassigning people who stood up for truth and what’s right. I mean, it’s not like he spent the last several weeks reassigning people who testified during impeachment or threatened judges who ruled against him...

When a pandemic meets a personality cult....

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/27/opinion/coronavirus-trump.html

So, here’s the response of the Trump team and its allies to the coronavirus, at least so far: It’s actually good for America. Also, it’s a hoax perpetrated by the news media and the Democrats. Besides, it’s no big deal, and people should buy stocks. Anyway, we’ll get it all under control under the leadership of a man who doesn’t believe in science....

The story of the Trump pandemic response actually began several years ago. Almost as soon as he took office, Trump began cutting funding for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, leading in turn to an 80 percent cut in the resources the agency devotes to global disease outbreaks. Trump also shut down the entire global-health-security unit of the National Security Council....

So the Trumpian response to crisis is completely self-centered, entirely focused on making Trump look good rather than protecting America. If the facts don’t make Trump look good, he and his allies attack the messengers, blaming the news media and the Democrats — while trying to prevent scientists from keeping us informed. And in choosing people to deal with a real crisis, Trump prizes loyalty rather than competence.

Maybe Trump — and America — will be lucky, and this won’t be as bad as it might be. But anyone feeling confident right now isn’t paying attention.

Who are you talking to?

In reality, even though this is the Webz, I bet I am talking to nobody but my own damn four walls.

If you will examine that post, you will see that my reply was to Thriller, who has me on "Ignore", like SirKicky, Colton, and probably many others. I can count on Fish though.

I meant no offense to you, and apologize for the "humor", if any, injected into a serious discussion.

I see that you are more intelligent, and more open to consider various rumors for whatever they may be, than the little band of Progressive Resistance workers who come here to re-post items from their daily talking point guidelines.

I need to become more educated on this. I never realized the common cold is a form of coronavirus. This is a long article, but it did help in helping me get up to speed...

Lipsitch predicts that within the coming year, some 40 to 70 percent of people around the world will be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19. But, he clarifies emphatically, this does not mean that all will have severe illnesses. “It’s likely that many will have mild disease, or may be asymptomatic,” he said. As with influenza, which is often life-threatening to people with chronic health conditions and of older age, most cases pass without medical care. (Overall, about 14 percent of people with influenza have no symptoms.)

"Lipsitch is far from alone in his belief that this virus will continue to spread widely. The emerging consensus among epidemiologists is that the most likely outcome of this outbreak is a new seasonal disease—a fifth “endemic” coronavirus. With the other four, people are not known to develop long-lasting immunity. If this one follows suit, and if the disease continues to be as severe as it is now, “cold and flu season” could become “cold and flu and COVID-19 season.”

This would square with my own understanding right now, almost exactly. CoViD-19 is closely related to SARS, and very seriously could have easily been produced in a lab from the SARS variety, with and intent to engineer mare effective human transmission.

The Chinese medical folks sent an Australian lab the mRNA genome fairly quickly, and deserve kudos for that. In fact, the genome was given to quite a few high-ranking labs around the world. I could hardly understate how positive this fact is for any evaluation of the Chinese government. There are already multiple reports of vaccines being produced using the genome data, which enables the highest technology labs to produce artificially the proteins present in the virus, and develop antibodies to them, or use the proteins directly as a vaccine with little risk of disease spread via the vaccine.

Several reports are hopeful that we are ready to begin human trials already, and may have it in production on a larger scale in a month or two.

I could hardly resist telling everyone, once again, how to effectively reduce your own personal risk...….

Avoid crowds, meetings, any kind of public gatherings where you are exposed to scores of sneezing, coughing folks with whatever gamboo they have. Mark Levin flew to Israel and is claiming he has "bronchitis". But his raspy voice has been suffering for months, perhaps from his continuous screaming into the mike(lol), but whatever.... it's persistant and not really likely to have come from airplane petri-dish situations..... more likely lung cancer, imo.

The virus hangs in aerosol droplets exhaled in people breath, even when they are just talking. Stand back a few feet and turn your hearing aid up. The droplets generally don't float very far, a few feet I think, but then they're on the floor, or hand rails, or seats, or whatever surface for a lot longer. Wash your hands, carrying disinfectant wipes like Chorox wipes. Add about 50 ml of bleach to the little cannister, because bleach will effectively destroy the virus. A little inhaler or vape tool with a dilute bleach solution, used when near people, would be very effective. It should smell like a poolside breeze, maybe two or three times more, just enough to stop the virus without making your lungs feel burned.

air freshener plugs in rooms or cars, and/or a uv lightss like what is used in "Clean Rooms" and labs, or over stinky roller skate racks or bowling shoe racks commercially, would help generally in public areas. Airplanes ought to have a system like this in line with their air circulation systems and filters.

Dow down 525.

always debatable why steep market declines are happening. A lot of people have been sitting on the edge of their seats for a long time, looking for signs of the beginning of a "correction". A whole damn lot of automated market tools are being triggered as stop-loss orders flood in.

But the vulnerability of our global industrial supply chains is a huge factor, indeed..... along with impacts on travel and entertainment industries.

Catchall, babe, or eenie-meenie? More wild stories?

I'm working on some really good ones, but the tldnr crowd is not my best market.

I can see you contracted the Chinese compliance virus or the Chinese social credits virus. Take care. Put your cognitive tools in a safe place, or ship them back home before they're irreparably damaged.

When they were going up it wasn't debatable. When they were going up it was because of Trump.

If he wants to own the DOW then let him own the DOW.

Typically, when investors feel the **** is hitting fan precious metals go up.

Gold went down this week like $60 an ounce.

This is part of a slow down that has building up for months. The panic over the virus might be a catalyst for short term swings in numbers - but it's certainly not the root cause.

The fact that you are "researching" stuff like this and even entertaining it's truthfulness says a lot.

depending on your complicity score, or participation score, in global population management schemes, this can be a good thing just as much as your insinuation that it's bad.

Only a political hack employed to calm or direct public opinion need worry about alarmist theories being hatched free-will all over the world. Even I don't have time to examine them all, and nobody believes them in the first place. They are basically conjectural in nature, and anyone who takes one serious is already in the mode of fabricating further refinements on some damn near endless list of possibilities.

More to the point, reasonable people today don't just simply believe anything our Media or our government says in the first place. It's almost Un-American not to question authority.
