WTF Rudy?

This is why I'm upset with Snyder right now. Rudy needs to be involved offensively to get fully engaged.
Mike has no clue how to get Rudy involved. Emanuel has no problem, attack the basket and drop it off to him.
Ingles being forced to guard Royces guy (when he was starting) really takes Joe out of the game. He's a good defender but he's not dominant. It takes a ton of his energy to guard them. Since Ingles is worn down he doesn't have the same game offensively and Rudy really relies on Joe to boost himself.
Bogey use to have the ball in his hands on like 20% of possessions. Now it's maybe 10%. Now he's regulated to standing in the corner or wing watching Conley or Mitchell dribble around.
This is so simple. Conley with Clarkson in the 2nd unit fixes this nonsense. Plus they both should be able to dominate any other bench units.

So simple and yet the Jazz brass make it so complicated.

That’s the other thing... it will look even worse when we finally do the right thing now... and we’ve extended our less than ideal rotation. Quin is striking someone’s ego... either Mike or the front office... he should just be trying to ducking win games.

After that whole fiasco yesterday, I think we just stick with this starting lineup the rest of the season. I think it would be too embarrassing for everyone involved to go back to the original decision of benching Mike and starting Joe, even if it is ultimately the right thing to do.

Too embarrassing? Should that really be their main concern?

I agree it should not be... but it clearly was yesterday. TJ said they didn’t want it to look like they were blaming Mike... who “they” were is unknown... coaching staff? Then they chicken ****. Front office? Then they chicken **** and they are sticking their nose where they shouldn’t.

This does seem to be the most reasonable option.

They better not... it screws up so much stuff.

That was the decision Quin made. He showed his hand... would love a full or better explanation but no one is asking the direct question... Did the front office get involved here in any way? If yes how? If no then feel free to just let Quin have it because that was some Michael Scott level people Managment.

I just dropped off MJ and it makes me think that Donovan needs to step up. The team won't go anywhere until he does.
I don’t think Donovan’s leadership style is being an *******. His leadership style is, he goes out there and busts his *** and hopes his teammates will follow. Donovan’s in a weird place as far as that role IMO. Mike is a vet, Rudy has been here longer. Donovan doesn’t want to start turmoil. I wish he was a bit more in charge, but I get why he kinda holds it back. Dons always just listening. He didn’t have a perfect game last night, his defense has been very spotty but Don busted his *** last night and was owed more by his teammates. Especially Rudy. “Rudy’s one of the best players in the league” yeah Rudy you are because of your defense. Now go out there and do what makes you special instead of complaining about your teammates who don’t dare throw the ball at your clumsy hands. I get why it’s an awkward situation for Donovan. When Rudy asks for the ball Donovan better start snapping back and saying then you better f***** do something with it.

Trouble is...Rudy can't even catch the ball and is on a two year rental. Donovan either realizes that it's his team to take over now, or the Jazz remain a mess on the court because no other player has the skillset or cred to tell these guys what to do.

Donovan’s in his 3rd year man, like I agree, but I get why he would be uncomfortable just going at someone like Rudy about stuff. Rudy’s supposed to be a co-captain and he’s being a really big baby right now. Defense is what makes Rudy special, and he seems to have forgotten that. So a conversation. Rudy isn’t a very good leader. Like at all this season. I think Donovan can be a great leader, I also almost think Rudy has to be gone for him to feel comfortable that this is 100% his franchise and team unless Rudy can start being a better leader himself. I’m sure John and Karl weren’t always happy with each other. John and Karl weren’t best friends off the court. John and Karl knew how to lead a franchise and team and hold everyone accountable together without bickering at each other n the process. Rudy has taken vailed shots at teammates, including Donovan. Karl and John weren’t undermining each other to the media. Also, Rudy’s been getting punked by guys and dunked on and embarrassed and no ones shoving the guy. There’s a rift between Rudy and the team is what I see, and it started with Rudy whining to the media about his touches and other guys defense. If Rudy wants to address things stop doing it passive-aggressively and hash it out with coaches and teammates to their face. Rudy doesn’t have their back if they miss him, and they don’t have Rudy’s back if he has a guy screaming in his face right now.

Another thing I think that just compounded the issue was Rudy feeling like Trae Young was getting him the ball during the AS game. He thinks his teammates should be able to do it and it’s just not the same thing at all as a real game and he should realize that.

It's not even about holding Rudy accountable as it is much as holding everyone else accountable. No one is doing that. I think the team would have Donovan's back if he took over in that role right now. Joe Ingles would have his back and he himself needs to be held accountable. We're just a lame duck team without that floor leader and Rudy without offensive skills can't really take on that roll.

and besides if Donovan is old enough for his own line of underwear, he's old enough to take on the leadership role of this rudderless team.

This team is Donovan's team for the taking. They will be in limbo until he decides to do so in my opinion.

And who knows, perhaps Rudy is tanking right now so Donovan will step up and take the leadership role. Maybe Rudy thinks that that is what is best for the team long-term.

I mean, I don’t disagree I want to see Donovan’s leadership be more asserting. Rudy acting the way he’s acting as the teams most tenured and impactful player doesn’t cut it and ruins the entire teams morale. It starts with Rudy being Rudy again. Donovan will continue to grow.

Rudy has had his shot at the leadership role and it didn't have legs. Someone needs to do it because these guys need to be held accountable. That's obvious, right?

But Rudy is the most important part of this right now and he’s acting like a petty child lol. Donovan can assert leadership, it’s going to take Rudy getting back to being defensively dominant for the team to be good again. And with the way he’s acting I’m not sure he’s all that receptive to it right now. If Rudy doesn’t just grow up, it’s not gonna matter.

Both factors are important to the success of this team but I don't think Rudy grows up until there's a true leader on this team.

maybe it's time to destroy Dead Leader Lindsay's mold , have Gobert walk and build around Mitchell. Have a run and gun offense, F defense. but keep toughness and finesse.
