LHM company layoffs

I'm trying to recall which left winger on this board was lecturing me that Trump was actually endorsing death panels when he said this same thing. The fact is, both you and Trump are correct about this. There is a point where the cure is worse than the disease. I guarantee you there is not a member of my family who does not feel that way about the chemotherapy my mom underwent. It may have allowed her to live a little longer, but it absolutely destroyed her in the process. I believe we are currently doing something very similar to our economy.

Well, sure, indecisive half measures will do that. It’s been three weeks+ since it was obvious it was starting to get really bad. Shut down then for two weeks. National lockdown. All flights canceled. All cruises canceled. Be vigilant about it. National guard. Etc. Contain the **** out of it. And test, test, test that whole time. Do that for two weeks, maybe three, and you can probably restart society fairly normally, with protocols in place. But yeah, you’re right we can’t last forever with this, “Hey guys we sort of should stay at home, guise,” retard-talk that is Trump’s native language. This is going to go on for months upon months. Possibly into 2021.

The hammer and dance. It is how a Stanford professor descibes governance in a pandemic.

If the hammer is too hard a society risks civil unrest or self destruction. Too soft and the pandemic spreads. The hammer is a one time event.

The dance is everything that Government does afterwards. It is fluid, gliding from one movement to the next, adjusting to the music and the dancers and continuing without stopping even when a mistake is made.

It was going to be some president's misfortune to be in charge when a pandemic struck in the age of globalism. I fear as a society we will fail to learn all that we could from this one because Trump is a convenient excuse for everyone.

Except we should be able to learn.

Let’s think about this. Going forward, the CDC funding matters. Having a strategic plan in place for quick (24-72 hours upon notifying them) placement of National Guard and Army Corp of Engineers members if needed in coordination with local, county and state officials including police officers, politicians and health officers, amongst perhaps others. Having a stimulus check plan already in place (sorry but two people still working should not get one at all though they could later for people who subsequently are laid off)...most of this stuff I assume was already in place and Trump just ignored or decided to rip up the playbook on the sidelines jay before kickoff. You can’t make this stuff up. And more should be in place. 1B spent on ventilators at cost or close to cost because **** the private whores, they’re for a ****ing pandemic. Other **** like that. Whatevs. I’m over it.

It's more difficult than you are making it out to be. Trump can't make the states shut down. That's part of our constitution. Also, the states with slow developments of the virus have been allowed to run in the meantime. People have been able to make money.

For example, I'm in TN. My wife has been able to keep working these last couple weeks. Had we shut down like NY, a lot of people in this area would be two weeks without a paycheck already. As a state, we would be much worse off.

This whole pandemic has so many more questions than answers especially when it comes to the economy. Expect the worst, hope for the best. Every unemployed person in the country is eligible for unemployment PLUS the stimulus money. Don't be too proud. Take them both and survive.

Obviously it’s more complex than I’m making it sound. Where in the Constitution does it say that? So far as your belief in how Tennessee has handled it, well, you’re wrong. You just are. And I’m too tired and don’t give a **** enough to explain to you why. But it takes pretty basic math and a pretty basic understanding of the virus.

There state rights and federal rights. Shutting down all commerce in a state is the call of the state.

And no, I'm not wrong. If TN completely shut down 2 weeks before it did, my family and others would be in a worse situation. You dont know my situation.

The blame game can be done later although nobody knew anything going into this. Experts have been baffled. The most baffling part of all of this will be restarting the economy.

Still waiting for the link to the Constitutional amendment that states this.

Also, I should’ve stipulated had stimulus money been sent out, every state like Tennessee would’ve been better off. I had alluded to that though. Shut down on 3/16 (most ppl would have just been paid on 3/13)—shut down nationwide. Pay stimulus out so ppl receive it on 3/29 (last weekday of month) or in the case of people paid weekly half that amount each on 3/22 and 3/29, and DO NOT pay to those who make a certain amount per household (whether one or two work) and not if both are still working and receiving paychecks. It’s ludicrous for anyone to receive stimulus checks if they’re both still working whether it’s because they’re essential or they can work from home. We make too much so we won’t get ****. But if people are making $140,000 combined and still working, **** them. They don’t need it. In fact, they’re probably saving more money then ever. I ran a credit card analysis for ourselves. Right now, we’re not paying daycare for two, no gas money for our vehicles, no EZPass (for tolls), no overly priced breakfasts or lunches at Dunkin Donuts or wherever else. Can literally save about 6 grand more per month than we had been. So yeah, two people who are still employed shouldn’t receive ****. If the stimulus will pay you less than you’d normally receive, your place of employment, based on tiered profitability, must make up some to 80-85% of the difference. Given the digital age we are in and the recent viruses over the years, yes I do think this is something that could’ve been done and should’ve been planned out in advance. You could do this for 3-4 weeks starting on 3/16 (or even 3/14), totally isolating ****, tracing it, and then resume normalcy on 4/6 or 4/13 for those who can not work from home. Those who can still work from home would have to. Cases would be infinitely cut down upon this way. A clear vision and plan would be in place, thus lessening the widespread concern and the stumbling economy. Hospitals would be able to function without being overwhelmed because there would be less cases. A great leader with a clear plan in place like this and politicians who have a **** would’ve already thought to have had this in place.

I have more thoughts on exactly how the stimulus could connect to unemployment too but I’m too tired to continue right now. So yeah, it could be done.

You are saying a ton of valuable things which I agree with. If from the very tip of the beginning we had done some of those things, we would be better. I do feel that unemployment and stimulus are different. Unemployment can be gained immediately yet stimulus has to be passed. People are getting both although some don't need/deserve it.

However, the fluidity of everything makes this very difficult. Sure my wife made money the last two weeks but she won't next week. According to what OU proposed - does she never get the stimulus because she worked some but not all? A stimulus for everybody under a certain amount, while maybe unfair, is the cleanest way to do it.

As for who is working vs not working, that's tough. If you dont work right now, you get around $35k from unemployment plus $600 per week. My wife makes more than that so her working the last two weeks was better for our situation than just shutting everything down.

If you make really good money and have really nice things, this whole situation is going to hit and hit hard. How do we get that back? On the other hand, Lord willing you and yours are healthy, many low income or lower middle class people might come out of this better off. Some people actually got a raise from being fired then getting the stimulus. If they spent this money wisely, they could come out in 4 months or whenever better off.

This is where the digital age should make something simple. A person is let go. They receive some sort of online code from their employer (who already filled out their termination online on the stimulus website) to enter themselves so they receive their stimulus check. It’s 2020. Out technology is incredible. This is basic **** I’m talking about.

I don’t agree with many of Bernie’s policies and basic principles but for this sort of **** I def would. Take care of people. **** big business. Any Fortune 1,000 biz who profited however much last year should have to contribute to the stimulus check.

Trump can't make the states shut down.

Is it in the Constitution that the president can't request that states shut down?

Oh and trump hasn't given a **** about the Constitution so far, why start now?

The task force led by Trump makes suggestions. The states can choose to follow.

Dont make this political. Trump has done dumb stuff just like Obama gave $150 billion to Iran. We can nickle dime everything.

But the message coming from the top is unclear, misleading, and weak.

#1 he has said follow the guidelines for weeks and weeks now. Trump, Birx, Fauci, etc say the same thing. Follow the guidelines.

#2 he has been hopeful which has led to some confusion, but all he has been is hopeful. He said he hopes to be open by Easter. Hopes not expects, but the media spun a narrative that he said he was going to open on Easter regardless. They said Trump is gonna kill people when all he said was out of hope.

Has Trump been perfect through this? No. Would anybody have done it perfectly? No. I hope and pray the task force gets more right than wrong.

Fauci has flat out side he doesn’t know why we’re not in and haven’t been in a nationwide quarantine.

Not because Trump hasn't declared it but because all states haven't made the call yet. If all the states follow the recommendation, we would be in a nationwide shut down right now.
