Following Potential 2020 draftees

The players we're discussing in our draft range are definite rotation players and potential starting-caliber players. A few of them (like Williams, Nesmith and maybe Bolmaro) even have some star potential as well. Among our rookies and 2-way guys this year, only Jarrell Brantley and Rayjon Tucker are potential starting-caliber players, imo, and both of them still have a lot to prove.

-- Brantley needs to play hard consistently, stay in front on defense, cut down on his turnovers, and keep improving his shooting from distance. If he were in this draft, he'd probably get picked in the 35 - 45 range.
-- Tucker needs to show better feel for the game, move the ball, and shoot better than he's shown as well. Otherwise, he's probably only going to get spot minutes. If he were in this draft, he'd probably get picked in the 40 - 50 range.
-- Juwan Morgan has a clear role as a 3rd or 4th big who is versatile defensively. If he were in this draft he'd go in the 45 - undrafted range.
-- JWF is an undersized shooting guard. He plays that role well, but it's a question of when Quin wants to put a Seth Curry-type volume shooter on the floor, given that we have other guys taking shots. If he were 6'3" he'd be getting looks in the late 1st and early 2nd round of this draft, but he isn't 6'3".
-- Miye Oni is a backup 3D wing who can straight-line drive. He may be mostly a defensive specialist, but he needs to show he can shoot more consistently to get on the floor. He'd also be a late 2nd-round pick.

What the Jazz are looking for, I think, is one more starting-caliber / impact player to play between Mitchell and Gobert. The Jazz can then fill in the gaps with the shooters (Bogdanovic) and 3/D glue guys (Ingles/Royce) they have.

If it were up to me, I might be willing to trade our pick + Royce O'Neale for Devin Vassell at FSU, assuming another team would even consider that deal. Otherwise, I'd hope that one of Bolmaro, Nesmith, Ramsey or Williams is on the board when we draft.
Thanks that makes sense. I would do that trade too.

I’m just going with whoever Cy likes. He’s got the track record here.
Honestly, not this year. I have guys I like, but I'm not super familiar with the field this year, so it's kind of just watching highlight and scouting videos on youtube. Not a lot of full games watched this year.

lmao who?

Kyle Kuzma is so bad on defense.
Jacob Evans couldn’t sniff the floor on a God awful Dubs team.

He really doesn’t.
You really that mad lmao?

Kuzma outperformed everyone's expectations for his draft slot, so I have no idea how that isnt a W for me, but keep hating.

I am really starting to think Bolmaro is our guy. He's like a mashup of Gordon Hayward and Ricky Rubio. He plays hard. He has some international flair that will complement Donovan Mitchell's stardom. He's a Jazzman. A year from now when Conley's deal is up and Ingles is turning 34, he'll be 6'8" / 205 lbs and ready to help run the show.

Go ahead and put me on Bolmaro island if we're drafting in the 20s.

No one gets it right 100% Cy has more hits than anyone else it seems. Also He was saying Kuzma was first round talent when most thought he wouldn’t get drAfted. He’s also a good NBA player

Are you worried that he can't shoot or finish at all? (Just from looking at his RealGM stats)

I'm projecting he'll get there. He's 19. Our coaches will fix him. A 6'8" guy who is a good horizontal athlete will make layups, and he's showing some signs of spot-up shooting.

Yeah, I'm not seeing the good athlete (like his best game on youtube he gets partially blocked by the rim on a 1-hander), the 6'8 part, or the ability to make layups. He looks like Grevis Vasquez with a flashy handle (and from scouting reports I've read he isnt even good at dribbling, just occasionally flashy.)

I'm guessing he's 6'6 w/o shoes with a 6'7 wingspan. His reported weight I see is 180 lbs as well, so he's a weak string bean who has no shot at getting downhill in the NBA and finishing, especially if his handle is sus.

His official height is 2.03m, which equals 6'7" (6'6.75"). Euroleague lists him at 6'8", so I'm assuming his measurement is without shoes. I think that weight of 180 lbs. is 12 - 18 months old. He needs to get to 200 lbs and he needs to add strength. His handle and body control are excellent. He's a better athlete than Greivis freaking Vasquez. Give him a year, and he'll be fine.

Is he?

The very first highlight and at 29 seconds the guy cant dunk with a wide open paint, and you can tell he is trying to get up there. It's pretty bad. If he's actually 6'8 without shoes that's pathetic as hell and in no way more athletic than Vasquez. You just saw Vasquez play against NBA athletes.

On that play at 0:29, he's too far underneath the rim and has reach back to lay it in. I'm not expecting him to play much above the rim, but I am expecting him to finish plays at the rim. I'm not worried about it. I think he's 6'8" with shoes.

This vid shows more finishes. It also lists him as 195 lbs. Not sure where that measurement came from.

Sure, but you claimed he was some kind of good body control athlete, so why is he even in that position where he cant dunk a wide open attempt with an open lane? You can get away with this stuff in lesser leagues, but in the NBA he is going to struggle to score because of his lack of strength, athletic ability, and lack of scoring instincts.

We'll see. He is a good body-control athlete as shown in his on-ball defense. It wouldn't surprise me if he played soccer growing up.
