bailouts you’re blue states? That’s a no go. They need to pick themselves up by their own bootstraps. Bailouts to trump supporting red states? That’s fine.

This is some next level grifting

Its interesting the feedback loop that the right wing has set up.

Grifters pull a stunt that they know will get them on Fox News. Fox News then gets days worth of rage out of the grifter. This gets them eyeballs and helps them continue to push their culture war. The grifter gets the money and attention that they want. Republicans take advantage of the grifter and Fox News to whip up base support and market their brand. Social media and Facebook market the grifter as some sad desperate victim of injustice.

Rubes then see it on Facebook and social media and share, retweet, post on message boards, etc. which creates more grifters who want in on the operation.

Meanwhile, injustices like these get zero attention from the entire right wing propaganda apparatus.

This is raw Trumpism.

no platform.
No ideology.
They aren’t even coherent ideas.

it’s this attitude of telling experts and the mainstream to **** off while making as much money doing it. It’s the intellectual maturity of a 3 year old telling “No” when the parents tel him it’s time to go to bed.

in the end, I know that republicans under trump won’t build anything. I’m however afraid of the destruction That they’re causing on our society and democracy. The death from this pandemic, the damage to our foreign relations, and the shredding of our social fabric will take years to fix.

This is WHO report from January 22:
https://www.who.int/china/news/detail/22-01-2020-field-visit-wuhan-china-jan-2020

Data collected through detailed epidemiological investigation and through the deployment of the new test kit nationally suggests that human-to-human transmission is taking place in Wuhan. More analysis of the epidemiological data is needed to understand the full extent of human-to-human transmission. WHO stands ready to provide support to China to conduct further detailed analysis.

Some of the information in that Der Spiegel article is kind of interesting:
https://www.spiegel.de/politik/deut...avirus-a-51add7cf-96b6-4d04-a2d0-71ce27cff69c

The federal government[German government] has doubts about the US claim that the corona virus originated in a Chinese laboratory.

According to information from SPIEGEL, the Federal Intelligence Service (BND) has last week consilted with all partners of the secret service network "Five Eyes", which includes the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and asked about evidence for the laboratory theory. None of the secret services could confirm the thesis that is being propagated, in addition to Trump, especially by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
...
In an internal note for Secretary of Defense Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, the US claims are classified as a calculated diversion. The US president is trying to use the laboratory theory to "distract from his own mistakes and direct American anger towards China," the confidential dossier said.

So yeah... this is what the German intelligence agency thinks about the lab theory that Trump is pushing - "calculated diversion to distract from his own mistakes and direct American anger towards China".

Also according to Der Spiegel German intelligence services think China's information policies lost the world between 4-to-6 weeks of response time:

The BND estimates that China's information policy has lost four to six weeks to fight the virus worldwide.

@Heathme will never actually respond to this. He’ll just continue to flood this forum with stupid tweets from fringe people.

But the rest of us appreciate the facts that you’ve presented. I know you probably didn’t post for him but for the rest of us. So Thank you for your post. Very informative.

As states reopen, this is going to become a more important issue:

what are we doing to protect workers? And what happens when employers do this? This happened earlier this week in Utah:

Just two weeks ago governor Herbert signed a law protecting employers. So I’m sure this will be litigated. But until then, these employees are now saddled with the financial and medical burden placed upon them by their unscrupulous employers. And the public still has yet to know who these employers are.

I didn't post it for him to respond, I posted it as an interesting information that was in the same article he was quoting and contained information that is incredibly important. I don't care about your internal political fights. For the life of me I can't figure out how you guys can turn even a world wide pandemic with such grave repercussions for millions of people and for the whole world economy into a polarization issue. This is ****ing insane to me. I think Trump has been a complete and utter embarassement in this whole crisis. This doesn't mean everything he does or says should be dismissed out of hand. I remember him mentioning people should wear scarves if they don't have masks outside and being mocked for it from the other side. Why? He was completely right. In a situation in which there were shortages of masks people absolutely should have been wearing scarves if they didn't have the masks. The evidence worldwide show that masks or any mouth guards/scarves help in limiting the spread. Do they help as much as masks... no but that wasn't the quesiton. Now, of course - it's harder to take anything he says seriously when he's had so many embarassing and ridiculous statements to go with it along the way.

Now I'm trying to research why and how the Georgia situation seem to be improving or at least not going worse with relaxing measures(seems like they are testing a lot more, but I'm still having trouble finding the number of actual tests they are doing because from that and the number of positives you can draw conclusions about whether they are catching good number of them or if there is a huge iceberg under the calm water ready to sink your ship). I think it's important to study this thing all across the globe and take the best practices from the places that seem to have success with it in one way or another - from South Korea to Germany to Israel to New Zealand to ... yeah, even Georgia if they are able to stifle the spread well. Sweden is another interesting case that might not be replicable everywhere, but they haven't had a full lockdown at any point and they seem to be handling it well enough that they are not overburdening their healthcare system. True, they are much worse when it comes to deaths and cases than their neighboring countries, but everywhere there should be a trade off at which something like this might be worth it. For example, lets say they reach herd immunity without overloading their healthcare system. It's possible they are suffering a hard hit initially, but will be better off at the back end of the crisis.

But again... I don't care about your republican vs democratic petty fights. This is not a time for petty ****. Get your act together, guys. The US used to be a leader in the world and now in a time of the biggest non-war crisis in the last decade your administration is the laughing stock of countries with much lesser means and resourses(injecting disinfectants and bleach? are ****ing serious?).

i don’t disagree with anything here except for the scarf thing. I don’t recall trump ever suggesting that nor do I recall him being mocked for it. If he ever made this suggestion and was mocked for it, it was probably due to the fact that our response was so pathetic that we had a mask shortage. There’s a difference between mocking the idea of using a scarf as a mask and mocking the desperation of a completely inept administration. But like I said, I don’t even remember this.

The response of the leadership of Brazil, the UK, and United States to this pandemic has been an unmitigated disaster. We could Learn a lot from South Korea, new Zealand, and Germany.

Just a head's up to everyone...

If there is ever a vaccine for COVID-19 it isn't going to be mandatory.

Just in case there's a bunch of ****ing idiots out there thinking this whole thing is to eventually force everyone to get a COVID-19 vaccine...
I hear that bill gates is creating the vaccine so that after you get it then gates can just like push button and you have a heart attack or something.

People truly believe this.

Also gates was funding the wuhan lab that created this virus.

According to this report from 3 days ago Georgia is conducting about 10K tests a day and there seem to be about 500-800 new cases a day in that span. This would mean a hit rate of less than 10% which seems to be the number that WHO seems to be recommending as a benchmark to know whether you are testing enough or not. So in general it seems like Georgia is testing enough to get a relatively good picture of what is happening and since their new cases seem to be going down, it's possible they are doing something well with their contact tracing and isolating of positive cases, but lets see a longer trend here. Still not sure if they are testing enough to keep business going without interruption and need for new reinstatements of measures... Also, it's interesting to see just how much business is 'back to business'. Like we've seen elsewhere in the world - even when there are no official restrictions/measures a lot of people act as if there are. But yeah... Georgia is definitely an interesting place to follow in the next weeks.

Yeah, you basically nailed it. Fabricate a martyr and watch the money and power roll right up. It's disgusting and completely transparent.

I love how the right have now all become globalists when it comes to how information is communicated on an international level regarding our health and well being.

The WHO exists, in large part, for countries that don't have a GDP in excess of 21 trillion dollars and can't afford their own global health infrastructure that existed under the Bush and Obama administration - and then dismantled by our current president.

This is key and something that is being ignored by the "open everything up now" crowd. This will be especially damaging if places open too soon and another wave of inflections begin. People will lose even more confidence in the safety of going out and the economic recovery will be further set back. It's not enough to simply allow businesses to open, we need to do it in a way that gives people confidence that it's safe to do so. I think a national testing and tracing program is the way to go. But that doesn't seem to be likely to happen.
