Coronavirus

Who said those things?

You seriously think there is no historic victim mentality in the Dems?

I just took exception with 10 years ago. It seemed like your previous post claimed that 10 years ago democrat were playing the victim card. Which I disagreed with. If that’s not what you meant then I apologize.

Both parties use victimhood to drum up support. However I don’t think there’s any comparison in the last 10 years which side uses it more. I think it finds its roots in Nixon’s southern strategy, was exploited by Reagan to create the “moral majority”, and has been put into overdrive since November 2008.

Ever since obama, the right has given up on reaching out beyond their aggrieved white victimhood base.

I completely disagree. Hell, the Democratic platform is run on victimhood. All minorities are victims. All women are victims. Everyone needs free handouts because they’re victims and life hasn’t been fair to them. Spare me, man. I’ll vote Biden but this narrative is ridiculous.

And fwiw, many many minorities and females are victims. Look no further than Minnesota.

Lmao. So because Trump has taken some measures he has done a good job. You really can’t make up how dumb HeathMe is. Hey, I beat my kids and yell at them all day and don’t have any meaningful experiences with them but because I put food on the table, I’m doing a good job as a parent!

Please don’t procreate, Heath. Seriously. You’re epically dumb. Trump loves this country. He loves it so much he got deferments from Vietnam five times lmao. He loves it so much virtually every word out of his mouth is divisive and splitting a wedge between the people in this country. He loves it so much he chooses his dumb, ignorant science-defying ways to address the coronavirus, thus killing tens of thousands more than he had to. He loves it so much that he says one thing and then a week later denies having ever said it, even though it’s 2020 and there is video of him saying it, thus lying to the country’s people 24/7. I could go on and on. Listen, Biden sucks. Hilary is by all accounts a despicable human being. But this guy shouldn’t be running a kiosk in a mall let alone our country and the fact that you support him shows how stupid you are.

LOL

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I meant 10 ir more years ago. Both parties do it. Just today it is the constant crying story from the right.

Yea, liberals never do this. Jesu, cmon man.

Ummm... Try reading the post you quoted

I'm not going to go into the degree or merits of your complaints here regarding victimhood and minorities.

However, putting on the mantle of victimhood is a continuing right-wing strategy. Talk about rounding up Christians, about how white people have it so hard now. etc., is stuff I read all over the place. It's a regular feature of PJF posts.

You think minorities and women are treated with equality in this country?

I'm confused by you bringing up Minnesota, do you think George Floyd was a victim of police brutality?

I have this funny idea that I should be able to believe what the POTUS says.

According to Limbaugh, the POTUS merely regurgitates hurtful conspiracies. In fact, yesterday Limbaugh compared Trump to a child who pours gasoline on a fire and then stands back and enjoys the carnage. The president apparently serves no legal or moral leadership role.

I have actually read many stories about the lockdown causing issues. Unemployment. Depression. Domestic violence. Suicides. Businesses shutting down. Foreclosures.

You are an idiot

Yeah, I'll hit up the pet peeve thread but it has become a huge pet peeve of mine when people tell me "What the media won't tell you..." and "What nobody is talking about..." or "Everyone is outraged about this but no one cares about X..." when The media is telling us, what people are talking about, and what people do care about.

I think the issue here is that American right since Nixon has provoked white resentment. It was a cheap and easy way to win votes from the south from angry segregationists.

Reagan used evangelicals and exploited their fears of losing power to a more secular society.

Since 2009, Republicans have given up outreach. They're not even pretending to care about civil rights or equality. As their party has shrunk and has become more homogeneous, they've become more extreme in their rhetoric and more absurd in their victimhood.

While Democrats have used victimhood in the past, I think their use of it has legitimacy. Women and minorities are treated unequally. Republicans meanwhile, exploit white resentment to pretend that they're somehow losing power by sharing it more broadly. Even today, you see Republicans bitching about the government, despite having unparalleled power for years. Even today, you hear them whining about social issues, despite still largely clinging to power.

There is some truth to that. I’d guess much of that is a (not knee-jerk) reaction to the victimhood always claimed and perpetuated by the left though.
