a cop whose own history on this very issue is pretty sketchy. I don’t think Kamala really scores well with the African American community. And for good reason.
Biden scores well with the African American community. So I’m not sure if the VP needs to be a POC. It would be nice. I do think it needs to be a woman.
I really don’t know what to make of the VP selection. It’s not going to be easy.
I don't think it'll be any of the people most of us currently think are possible.

A person who served as a state rep in a small district in Georgia is unheard of. She hasn’t served as governor or in Congress. But I guess traditions are always meant to be broken.

you’re probably correct. Which would be a good thing. You’d think with so many candidates in the primary it would be easy to find a VP. Nope.
Bernie should be the VP choice if you wanted full party consolidation. But two old white guys isn’t good.
Warren would cost us a senate seat. A big time cost. But seeing her with Biden would I think help reassure Americans about the steady hand in the executive branch. One can criticize Warren on a lot of things, she isn’t dumb or reckless. Personally, I like her the most. I also think she could troll trump on twitter and tv during the campaign and get him off his game while Biden stays above the fray. But she’d definitely cost a senate seat.
Klobuchar, as a former prosecutor in Minneapolis is probably out of the running now. Systemic racism and Police brutality are much more important issues than before (and they already were important).
Harris didn’t move the needle with African Americans in the primary and similar to Klobuchar, has a sketchy past history as a prosecutor.
Booker? Mayor Pete? Castro? Beto? Probably need a woman.
whitmer? Not seein it.
Abrams? Maybe. But her lack of experience and zero name recognition could be a problem. Especially if you’re planning on Biden to be a one term president.
So that leaves???
I do think Biden will be a one term President. Probably due to health.

totally agree. Honestly I’m kinda surprised that Biden wants to be president. His 8 years with Obama weren’t exactly easy or peaceful. The entire first term was spent trying to clean up an economic disaster. To want to be president and clean up after Trump is... wow. I’m sure some combination of ego and sense of obligation feeds into this. But it almost feels like in order to clean up Trump’s mess you need a Kobe Bryant/Coach K Redemption team like lineup and mission. The damage done to the EPA, FBI, DOJ, CIA, and DOD almost feels irreparable. That’s without dealing with the pandemic, unemployment, and foreign policy. Oh and the most domestic unrest since 1968. Just fixing relations with our allies and not having thousands die from covid feels like an impossible task.
Which makes the VP pick more important. You’re essentially choosing your 2024 pick. So better make it good. That’s why I’m not a fan of abrams. That’s why I like Warren... but she might cost us the chances of retaking the senate.
I love Warren, but I don't think she's the right pick as far as getting Biden elected. I'm an optimist so I think they could do it (especially with the way things are right now) but why take a chance?
Biden needs a powerful woman who is most likely African American to be his VP. The other previous candidates don't do it. I hope when he announces who it is I am able to get excited about that person. If everything goes well they will be the first woman President.

I know folks are going to move on to the next outrage if they haven't already - but the president of the United States had tear gas and rubber bullets shot at people who were protesting peacefully in front of The White House so he can do this - stand in front of a church he doesn't attend and hold up a bible from which he's already proven he can't recite one a single verse.
Let this sink in for the republicans who said Barack Obama was the worst president of all time. Or for that matter, the democrats who felt George W. Bush was the worst president of all time.
