Pistol Pete Maravich - Top Ten Plays

I was bored so I started looking at some vintage Pistol video's. I am sure most of you have seen these but their still fun to watch.

I have seen some other moves he did but I still liked them. Not necessarily his top 10.

The fact is, he was the one of the first to do these type of moves if not the first to do them. He was way ahead of his time.......Some of these players looks on their faces is like "What the hell was that".

...wonder what would have happened had the Pistol played shooting guard alongside Stockton and Malone in their prime. I suspect it would have worked pretty well! That's a heck of alot of basketball brains on the same court and same side, huh?

Jerry wouldn't have run any plays for him.

Pistol Pete = basketball brains? Dude was a turnover machine and chucker. The type of player you usually rail against. There seems to be only one obvious difference between players you call "hoppers" and Pistol Pete.

...I think given the stability and the inside presence of Malone, the Pistol would have settled down quickly and stayed more under control! Your not implying that Maravich was "uncoachable" are you?

Watched this a while ago and was totally underwhelmed. This supposed 'Top 10' of Pistol's career wouldn't match the top 10 of some single games. This is not a criticism of Pistol, but a criticism of the video editor.

I recently watched a Top Ten for a season in the early 90's (sorry I can't remember which one otherwise I'd post the link) It was not exciting at all. One night in the NBA of 2011 produces more highlights than an entire decade did...(maybe the players are worth the money! j/k)

I recently watched some Danny Ainge highlights from BYU on YouTube. Defenders weren't within 2 feet of him. If Jimmer Fredette got that much room he'd light them up all night long. Maybe I'm foolish, but when you compare basketball players from this era to previous eras... I think todays are playing in much tougher competition. There are obvious standouts from previous years, but for the most part I think players are much better today (not at just producing highlights.) Am I foolish?

ABSOLUTELY! Or as blind as Steve Wonder!

CarolinaJazz! Is it really you?

Obviously I was exaggerating when I said one night vs an entire decade. I just watched the top 10 plays from 93-94 and was quickly proven wrong.

But look at how much room Ainge is leaving Paxon on this clip. (skip to 1:20)
