Wow.. just Wow.. Rudy.. 9 blocks. Nice defensive effort. DM and Ingles were great too. Joe is shooting the lights out. This is the Jazz I remember before the break. Jazz are going to need Bogie and Clarkson to shoot better against the Nets but nice way to savage the road trip. I would love to see another 10 game winning streak to sow up the #1 seed throughout the playoffs.

Nets in two days without KD/Kyrie, and possibly Harden. A great chance to get a win streak going again.

I'm old enough to remember when a young Zach Levine would constantly try to get Rudy at the rim and lose that battle a lot. He needs to have a talk with his teammates.

It's obvious that Mitchell doesn't want to put in the work on defense. First 2 defensive possessions. Allows a rebound and does a lazy switch and gambles for the steal opening the lane. A few possessions later, he falls to the ground trying to draw a charge and allows a open midrange shot.

He is just trying to take a shortcut.

I didn’t realize you’ve watched him practice so you know that he doesn’t put work in on defense. That’s really cool.

He clearly doesn't want to on the court which was what I was referring to. The plays I mentioned show that he is trying to profit quickly instead of committing to the defense.

If Rudy were regularly challenged at the rim he would average 5+ blocks per game fairly easily. It is the fact that most teams have wised up and just simply do not go into the paint when Rudy is there. Tough to get blocks when they won't go at him at all. I wish there was a stat for "oh ****" reversals out of the paint due to Rudy. It would be off the charts.

I really like this kind of prose.

I've more or less drawn the same notion outta the stats. How is he such a great defender with no blocks. The idea was simmering but you slapped it on my plate.

I'd really like to see that stat done officially in all the stat tables. Say let's call it "Forced Retreats", maybe "Intimidation Reversals", maybe "Low Paint Wallouts". Isn't that what the Jazz first got famous for? I think it only fair to call the stat the "Mark Eaton". I know Mark Eaton actually blocked a lot of shots and actually got a lot of rebounds. I think he changed the game, or helped, in the trend that has followed for various more remote sorts of plays. But hey. I know Mark Eaton because he was a friend of a family member who worked with him on some charitable projects. He is really a nice guy, but in his spot he was the most feared defender of the basket.

And yet he’s averaging 3 blocks per game at the moment. He’s having a ridiculous year.

Did Shaq ever get 9 blocks in a game? Cuz... that’s beyond impressive
He recorded 15 blocks against the Nets in 1993.
But back then, they called this "But it's the Nets so it does not count".
And Shaq's next closest was 9 blocks 2 times so what Rudy did is really historical in its own sense.

On another note, Mark Eaton had 16 yes sixteen games (14 two times, 12 three times, 11 four times, and 10 7 times) with 10 or more blocks during regular season games.
