JFC literally the biggest failure of any administration in our history and it's not even remotely close. "But Trump"

The Taliban offered to let the United States take over control of Kabul while the terror group would remain outside waiting on President Joe Biden’s self-imposed withdrawal deadline of August 31 for the U.S. The United States turned down the offer, giving Kabul over to the Taliban while retaining control of Hamid Karzai International Airport, according to The Washington Post.

The kids in this class recovered in the blink of an eye compared to how long it will take the state of California to recover from the learning loss at having the schools shut to in-person learning for large chunks of the past 2 years.

I’m not a fan of measuring racism by gauging disparate impact but if you are then it is almost impossible to argue against teachers unions being the single most racist group in America. The learning loss resulting from the distance learning pushed by teachers unions has affected disadvantaged communities far more than the wealthy communities who can afford private schools, tutors, and more often intact 2-parent homes.

I’m just really bitter this week. My kid’s school district had imposed an indoor mask mandate, then 2 days before the school year started, changed so that now the kids have to wears masks outdoors too. They admit this is beyond the guidelines of our local health department, which is beyond the guidelines of the state health department, and of course beyond Federal guidelines. They have the gall to tell us it is to keep kids safe when THE TEACHERS DON’T HAVE TO BE VACCINATED!!!!!!!!!!

My 8-year old goes to a school where masks have to be worn all the time. He has to be PCR tested every 7 days because he is not old enough to be vaccinated. Parents are not allowed anywhere on school grounds regardless of vaccination status, and the teacher do not need to be vaccinated at all. Figure that one out.

Remote learning for kids is just like remote working for adults: works for some, but not everyone.

Children that have social anxiety, bullied or ADHD can do better working at home, but for most others, losing the social connections is huge. I'm of the opinion that both options should be present and parents should make the best choice for their child based on their needs.

Having worked from home for 18 months now, the silence in my house can be pretty deafening.
 
The fact that they literally lie right to your face and you eat it up is extremely scary. Truly how stupid and sheeplike are Democrats? Obviously pretty stupid and the Biden administration is fully aware.

Any of you see the videos where Taliban. are literally escorting American troops off the air base armed with American guns and gear? A surrender by definition that will lead to mass death and terroris.. What an absolute failure. Literally one of the biggest failure of any kind in our history. Maybe not THE biggest failure but it's definitely up there.

But hey, Democrats impeached "but Trump" because some random no name guy heard something on a phone call even though we have the transcripts that price otherwise.
 
An interesting perspective from an Afghan interpreter on the cultural ignorance of Americans in Afghanistan that hurt our ability to win over support:


A good article that talks about how those who were able to get out of Afghanistan now have a new license to life and will contribute greatly to America. It reminded me of this one summer I helped work at this kitchen in downtown SLC which helped refugees start up their own food trucks and businesses. I worked with this one refugee from Afghanistan and his sister. They were so nice. The food he made? Was amazing. I really hope he has a food truck somewhere and is finding much success.

Before the surrender people could be gay, marry who they want, women could go outside, listen to music, now they are being beaten or executed because of your president.

Personally I think these people are far more capable of bigger things than running food trucks but I'm not a blatantly racist pig. It's like when you racistly said all migrants are only good at picking fruit though that's just a racist stereotype.

Not saying running food truck is bad but there's literally hundreds of thousands of migrants. To think food trucks is all they are good at shows Thrillers pathetic racism.

Absolutely. I think most of us can agree with that. In fact, data shows that immigrants contribute net positive to our system. Many become hard workers, farmers, business owners, writers, teachers, and doctors. They may need some help getting started in a new country and culture but with time immigrants make America what it is today. It’s sad that for four years immigrants were demonized and ridiculed the way they were. If Stephen Miller had his way, these folks would be stuck in Afghanistan.

If such a study exists, and you have not misread it, it is outweighed by the hundreds of studies on mask efficiency.

Try telling the CDC scientists who studied the efficacy of mask use and ventilation improvements in schools and concluded the margin of error was greater than any real world observed benefit from the habits and types of masks used by students that you know more than they do.

Personally, I prefer to concentrate on observational science that makes use of real control groups. If a study makes use of virtual control groups, laboratory experiments, or computer models as its evidentiary basis then I view it as lower tier information. There is strong support for vaccines. There is strong support for being outdoors as much as possible. There is strong support for MERV-13 filtration combined with 6 room air exchanges per hour. There is strong support for N95/KN95 masks when worn properly and especially when combined with face shields. There is weak support for cloth masks and there is garbage support for governmental mask mandates.

If you have them come onto the board, I will. "Work" doesn't imply perfection, but they do work.

You'll find these sorts of emotional appeals don't really change the evidence, when you look at it.

Here's a quote from the summary of the report you linked:

COVID-19 incidence was 37% lower in schools that required teachers and staff members to use masks and 39% lower in schools that improved ventilation. Ventilation strategies associated with lower school incidence included dilution methods alone (35% lower incidence) or in combination with filtration methods (48% lower incidence).

When you can't even read the summary of a scientific study properly, it's hard to trust your judgement on these things.

Uh, okay. That has nothing to do with the fact that the teachers union for my kid's school district opposed it and that opposition is codified in the agreement struck between the union and the district.

I read more than the summary. Find the margin of error on that 37% and you'll find what I said is 100% true.

Also, 37% efficacy is garbage. Even the Chinese vaccines are better than that.
