Anyone playing Wordle? I have it going with my family, friendly competition style. Post your results here if you do. Or discuss the move to the NYT. The dude that developed it did it for fun and sold it for 7 figures. Damn.

I am also playing Worldle, a geography puzzle with shapes of countries you try to guess. And there are extended versions of Wordle, such as Quordle, which has you solve 4 such puzzles at once, with 9 guesses. Or Dordle with 2 word puzzles and 6 guesses.

Just thought we could use something a little lighter in GD. Everything has been death and doom and destruction and discord lately.
 
I cannot tell if the Wordle result I posted did not post correctly or if it is again embedded media I cannot see, but I got in 3 guesses.

Again the results thing posts weird. Here is a picture with the guesses blanked out. It tells you how close you are to the right place and the direction.

Most days I have at least one conference call that is boring and borderline (or completely) unnecessary so I play during those mostly.
 
We got in to this for awhile. Our son was really in to it and would ask to play with us every night. It's kind of fizzled out now. For me I still will play every once in awhile.

I think it should be timed. In fact, with unlimited time, I'm not sure it's possible to lose (has never happened for me so far). Also, the number of tries it takes to guess the words is more random/luck based than anything worth being proud of.

Hmm...That one didn't copy as well. Easy country shape, so got it in one. Yesterday's wasn't recognizable to me. Got it in 4.

Yeah, that's a tough one. I guess it's possible to lose, but no great accomplishment to win, or win in any amount of tries.

These are the complaints people are making since it moved to the NYT ownership. I saw less of these when it was on the original site with the original lists and code.

Actually, I'm pretty sure this was before NYT. "Light" is a pretty common word.

Could be. I just know when I played before NYT I didn't see that kind of thing very often. I may have missed "light" as I didn't hit it every day until recently.
 
I've been playing it faithfully every day since I started. I find it fun. I also play Dordle. I tried playing a math version (can't remember the name), but got tired of trying to find enough equations for guesses.

For some reason my Wordle stats disappeared a few days ago. So I have a running streak of 3. Very annoying.

What's everyone's favorite starting word? I seem to have settled on either adieu, audio, raise or tears, depending on my mood.

The missing streak thing is another common complaint since it moved to the NYT.

Stare, cheat, adieu, adore, doubt, i use a lot of starting words.
