Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

That says a lot about whether the team is focused on a championship or making sure Ryan's new toy looks good for all his billionaire BFFs.
If there is any truth to this article then we are screwed. Making decisions based on a completely meaningless game is beyond stupid. I also wouldn't be shocked if neither Mitchell or Gobert made the all star team next year. The jazz are trending down and there are a bunch of teams below us that should be trending up. I would put money on Anthony Edwards and Towns making the all star game next year over Mitchell and Gobert. They will have a better record and are better players.

This talk about the Jazz not trading a significant player because they're hosting the AS game could just be posturing. It's like saying, "We don't want to trade Gobert," right before they agree to trade Gobert.

New Orleans is now saying publicly they don't want to trade Devonte Graham, when half the league knows they want to trade Graham.

Lakers traded Kuzma, KCP, Harrell and their FRP last year for Westbrook.

P.T. Barnum would be proud.

See if Washington will do something gimmicky this year and put Gobert next to Porzingis.

Great point.

You guys are actually rooting for a Utah Jazz player to miss being in the All Star game that we are hosting.

I don't know if it's the fanbase or just negative toxic society in general, but you guys suck.

Do you really expect Mitchell or Gobert to be an all star next year? I sure don't. I think you can lock in Ant and Kat as all stars next year. If AD is healthy then he is on there. The same probably goes for Lillard. Then you have Kawhi and Paul George who if healthy are locks. Then you have guys like Dejounte Murray, SGA, Zion, Brandon Ingram, Simons, Sabonis and SGA. I give Rudy and Mitchell about a 5% chance at making the all star game next year.

No Nah… Uh uh… we ain’t that smart. The AS narrative isn’t needed to say you aren’t trading guys. This ain’t the tight lipped Jazz you are used to.

This team and it’s players do have rabbit ears though… so the only way to really end this is to continuously talk about how stupid it is and the might start reversing course. I actually heard Spence layout my exact scenario today about “what happens if Donovan doesn’t make the all star team?” “How embarrassing is it if he doesn’t stick around and why would he want to stick around to endure that embarrassment”.

So this is the headline that's circulating -- https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/266905/Jazz-Have-No-Desire-To-Enter-Rebuild-This-Offseason

They are saying that they would be willing to trade Mike, Bojan and Royce, which was a given. The Jazz aren't going to trade Gobert unless there's a really solid offer for him. Whether they get that offer may be 50-50.

All you have to say is they aren’t ready to enter a rebuild. Don’t have to mention the AS game. There is so much smoke to the AS game that it has to be true… again only way they reverse course on that stance is they start to hear from everyone how stupid it is and change their minds.

Teams with at least some level of interest in Gobert: Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Golden State, Toronto, Washington

I also wonder about the Spurs.

Bro, you’re really underselling the all star game. You don’t get it. You have to see the big picture. What if Don and Rudy shared this moment?

It could heal the franchise. It could bring peace to Eastern Europe.

If that was Don and Rudy one guy would be snatching it from the other and then there’s be a bunch of passive aggressive tweets… then Quin would need to go on a 15 minute rant about how trophy stealing isn’t a problem and how sometimes he sees them both with the trophy.

And occasionally eating together at Burger King.

What an accomplishment the all star game mvp is… “I was the most selfish egotistical guy at the, selfish egotistical guy party when the party was at my house!”

It doesn’t even matter if your team wins, you can still win the award.. It’s so ****ing dumb.

I think overall Ryan has done a good job with the Jazz since he bought them. The AS game thing is understandable given what he wants to do with it. The issue is, it’s the NBA and that’s not how it’s going to go. The coverage will all be about Donovan being traded or not wanting to be here if he’s here. It will seem corny and not genuine(because it isn’t). He will just be a huge distraction. I applaud Ryan’s initiatives to help Utah be introduced on a world stage, I just think Donovan Mitchell as it stands now is probably the worst “mayor of SLC” for All Star weekend you could have. Hell, I’d rather have Deron Williams come do it. It would actually be a better story. Deron owns a home here, is in Utah often, and is now married to a woman from Utah. He is a better representative for All Star weekend in Utah than Donovan at this point. The crowd won’t enjoy Donovan force-ably talking about Utah, in the least genuine way possible.

Our ownership and management is dumb as hell. I think I’m done with the Jazz.

Blecccchhh.
Ryan sees this as playing the king game with Utah, and if it was rookie Donovan, it’d be fun. This Donovan sucks ***, and no one wants him here pretending for a weekend he wants to be here just to demand a trade a few months later and hang over the entire season and AS weekend like a drama filled rain cloud. I get Ryan’s wants here, but the truth is Donovan wants nothing to do with Utah, so just cut the losses on it. You can have a great (and likely better) AS weekend if Donovan is simply not around at this point tbh. There’s a very good chance he doesn’t make the team anyway.

Roster influencing impact aside, I was really excited for the all star festivities. I'm a huge NBA fan and it is a special event. I was too young to enjoy it the first time it came here. Now I'm trying to embrace for the cringe as Ryan Smith tries to sell SLC and make it "cool". Reminds me of the "night life" saga. No one thinks SLC is a cool party city. Having Don be the mayor of SLC right before he leaves is the cherry on top.
