Me too.

Collins is a good player. Excellent #3 type guy.

Who are #1 and #2 then?

Also, I’m close to certain that Collins doesn’t see himself as a #3 guy and that mentality is probably why:
1) he’s available
2) he might actually make the situation here worse if we’re being honest with ourselves.

Don is a #1/#2. We gotta find the other "star" and that guy needs to be more defensively focused.

I think Collins just wants chances. With Trae, it's all about him and a system for him.

No contender is relying on a rim protecting center who can't spread the floor. Boston was struggling with Robert Williams (who is pretty damn good), so they just benched him for a big who has some range and can defend the perimeter a bit better.

Trade Rudy to a team desperate to be relevant - Charlotte, Chicago, Atlanta, Sacramento, etc. They will give us something we can work with. Also see if we can get any youth for Conley and or Bojan.

Evaluate the roster and maybe look to trade Don at the deadline or next offseason if things still look grim. He won't lose value by that time but we know that Rudy will.

Ummmm GS plays Looney and Dray and neither spreads the floor. Bam doesn’t spread the floor either… Williams is still an important player… Dallas is playing Powell a bit as well.

You’re delusional. Trae is a better passer for one. And two, you think Donovan is good enough to be a “#1/#2”? He’s not good enough but he might be both a #1 and #2.

Comparing Draymond to Rudy? The same Draymond that can run offense, pass, dribble and defend the perimeter?

Bam isn't the same type athlete as Rudy because Bam can put the ball on the floor.

I didn’t compare them at all… you said no one is playing rim protecting centers that don’t stretch the floor and they literally all are bare minimum of 15-20 minutes. GS has no stretch 5 since Draymond became allergic to shooting. Not having Williams likely cost Boston the game yesterday as Bam went nuts on them.

5 out is not the end all be all… it’s something nice to have the optionality so long as you can still protect the rim.

If a player isn’t meeting his potential it’s because of a system and another player they play with.

Draymond and Bam aren't rim protectors. They are big, versatile defenders who have the ability to do things with the ball in their hands.

My point, and you know this, is that we shouldn't build around a rim protecting center. A rim protector is fine to use some but not always.

You don’t think Draymond and Bam are rim protectors? They guard on the perimeter too but they definitely are rim protectors.

And Looney is playing like 30 minutes a night for the warriors and is not a strep 5 at all.

Draymond definitely doesn't start on the first option. His off-ball value is immense and that roughly translates to rim protection and he has a whopping 100 more possessions than Gobert in 7 years.

GSW are happy that Draymond doesn't have to stop every leak because that's how he can affect the whole floor.

30 a game against Dallas… and their other 5 isn’t a stretch guy. There are really two stretch 5s left… Grant kinda plays some stretch 5 but is more of a 4… so your premise that rim protecting bigs that don’t stretch the floor aren’t playing a major factor is not correct. None of these teams are playing 5 out all night when healthy. It’s a 20/25 minute a night strategy if you have the right guy… there aren’t many Maxi Kleber types out there.

It's fair to say that there are rumors both Atlanta and Charlotte have interest in Rudy. Hopefully, neither team pulls off a heist for Deandre Ayton and that keeps Gobert's market warm.

I haven't seen anything meaningful involving Portland, San Antonio or Washington. There was some report that San Antonio has interest in Ayton, and they're a team that has the ability to clear enough cap space to sign a big FA. Will be interesting to see what happens if San Antonio can't attract Ayton, or if they can get a commitment from Lavine.

I think most of the trades people have discussed here are way too far discounted. I mean, just look at the last few times an all star was traded who had 1 o 2 years left on their contracts. 3 years just doesn't happen.

Eg. in recent memory consider the Paul George and Anthony Davis trades. Perennial All Stars for a team starting over.

Paul George ---- Shai Gilg, Gallinari, 3 unprotected 1sts, 1 protected 1st, and 2 1st round pick swaps.

Anthony Davis ---- Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, 3 1st round picks, a future 1st round pick swap, and cash

I know, I know. Donovan isn't Paul George or Anthony Davis. Gobert is the best remaining dinosaur of a past era. But neither are an aging, overweight, underperforming James Harden or disgruntled, mentally challenged Simmons. Hoping for a starter or 2 + 1 first round pick from the Kings from a meh draft is poor by anyone's standards.

I agree. Rudy is no slouch. Trading him for a mid pick and some expiring ******** just doesn’t fly. I think we can honestly get a decent return on Rudy, Don, Clarkson, and Bogie.
