Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

You think you're ready for possibly 7 years of dancing around the lotto?
I’m living my life, and my life does not revolve around this team. But I would rather spend the time I do on a team being serious about either pursuing a championship or at least building toward something I am no longer embarrassed of because that’s what this team has become.

I mean if the vibes were better and they didn’t do just some of the obvious dumb **** to mess this iteration up I’m cool with being a 3-5 seed and making a run. If they actually came together and played for each and were committed it’s another story… it really just needs to be blown up to start it over… and Ryan needs to fade into the background a bit.

Or it could be two years like Dallas and Memphis… one year like Boston. Ryan seems like he prefers the Wiz/Kings plan though. Honestly… the fans in OKC are having more fun than we are right now.
I had more fun in the Corbin years than this last year.

Let's not act like youth, potential and development isn't exciting.

Go listen to Down to Dunk… they are enjoying this part of the process. The least enjoyable teams are the ones like the Kings… stuck in the middle and not patient enough to do the right things. That’s where we are headed with this half *** retool or 12 more months of wait and see cuz… all star game is super important.

Plot twist. That was my dad and he wants his ball gag back. The Running Best Buy Geek Squad? Impressive. How many gigabytes did you average?
That's all you can do is twist it like you twist things to justify Rudy sucking. I know you are Cy.

As always you have Weak come backs, is that why you used the mic that Rudy spread COVID with as your sex toy?

Best buy eh? Bet you couldn't even make that team your parents probably had to pay a fee for you to ever make a team because you couldn't make the squad on pure talent. Did you also cry like Rudy when you got cut?

White Boy lol

I just don't see how you can say that being on the court with Gobert was the reason why Donovan's +/- was abysmal, when Gobert's was a slight net positive.
Take Donovan out of the equation, because it isn't about him why do you think the rest of the team don't pass it to Rudy?

Of course, they would. They got too many pieces and almost all of them are fun. When the expectations hit, they will have the assets to make moves and have a higher margin for errors. SGA-Giddey is going to be easy to build around, too.

One year delay isn't deadly, it's just meaningless. Even if the Jazz don't get great value for Gobert and Mitchell, it's at least a direction and they can recuperate but if we want to keep the tank short, it's better to trade them both now.

It's going to suck real bad if Ryan develops an unhealthy ambition to keep making playoffs even after Mitchell asks out.

The last 2 years the Jazz were 9 wins and 11 losses without Gobert.
25 wins and 13 losses without Mitchell.
Kinda seems like Gobert might just be healthier and makes his team better than Mitchell.
When was the last time the Jazz won a game with Mitchell's defense?
Trade Mitchell to a stupid team that's desperate. He's fools gold.

Quin built everything around Rudy's strengths and hiding his weaknesses as much as possible. Comparing with and without stats isn't a fair comparison.

But if you want to go down that road, we lost the only playoff game Don sat the last 5 years.

He doesn’t face “adversity” because that’s not the point in exchanging ideas. He and @KqWIN have disagreed substantially numerous times but they engage in a way that is at least intelligent and reasonable without engaging in name-calling, disingenuousness, intellectual dishonesty, or goal-post moving.

It says so, so much more that you are the only person that has a problem with HH, who, by the way, has racked up more correct predictions than anyone on this board by a mile.
HH and I both went after each other. We both said things. I still love the guy and respect him.

It's probably not the same for me because people these days have to have somebody they hate. It comforts them. I make it easy because I'm firm in my stances and I don't fold for popular opinions.

The most correct predictions? I would absolutely love to go down this rabbit hole.

I argue with plenty of folks but it’s generally exchanging ideas. For instance you loved Franz last year in the draft. I wasn’t sold because of some stuff I watched… I was dead *** wrong. I didn’t hate him but would have been nervous taking him mid lotto.

With predictions like anyone it’s a mixed bag.

Not really a fan of it. Quickley is more streaky than Clarkson. Toppin looks very discombobulated with the ball, like he's not comfortable with the size of his body.
So I haven’t watched them much. I could see both guys doing well in a new environment because they have promise and their on-off splits (something I give a lot of credit to) are amazing. Part of that is Randle being off the floor and part of it is they were garbage time all stars… but it’s generally a good indicator.

I’d prefer RJ too but I think I’m to a point where I’d talk myself into these guys if I got all the draft capital and we could just push forward to a new era.

You talk about HH being a Donovan hater then minutes later say this. Are you gonna ever admit to being a Rudy hater?
This may shock everyone but I love them both! I also can see the flaws with both... and recognize there will be a split with Donovan in the near future, so its time to rebuild. I will never throw out the multiple pairs of shoes Don has signed for us or hate him. He is simply wanting a new direction and tbh it will be better for us too because we don't have the tools to build around him quickly enough. But just like politics... most of the good answers are reasonable and in the middle but people want to push to extremes on both sides. I'd rather spend time talking with people on here that are a bit more reasonable and measured.

If you control their draft the next 5 years you will get some high picks. Donovan ain't a culture changer and he bails on them for a winner at some point.

Quickley does a poor man's Donovan impression. We do just fine with improved defense... the vibes are immaculate.

You know me, I'd be willing to do this dance with just Don....maybe even more so than Rudy but I see your side of this. Rudy is the key to winning games.

Generally, I just think it's a must to turn over some assets this summer for guys who could improve their value. Quickley, Toppin....don't particularly like them, but I'd rather try to boost those guys up than "win now" with the likes of Conley, Bogey, Clarkson etc. The Jazz just need to make a bunch of asset positive moves and hope something good comes out of it.

If Don wants out, NY could send us a package that makes sense for the long term. If Ryan is set on staying competitive, take back Fournier who is Rudy's buddy and just go with that until hopefully the picks materialize.

I hate that. But I also understand that.

Yeah it will be an interesting few weeks. I think a Rudy trade is kinda 50-50.. if it doesn't happen around the draft I think it doesn't happen at all. We desperately need a guy to "pop" and outside of Jared Butler there isn't a guy on the roster with potential to do that. So I kinda think you need to get a pick in this draft (in the teens or 20s) and you need to nail it. I think the draft is the easiest way to find that guy... but taking a chance on some younger players might provide that as well. Getting a Khris Middleton-esque throw in to a trade with some found money would go a long way.

Sadly I think if you are moving Rudy that those wins will likely just keep us where we are vs pushing us to the next level, but at this point pushing forward with the same (or substantially the same) group will mean slippage.

I think OG is the guy I believe in most as a dude that could take the next step with some consistent health and an increased role. Not a believer in Hunter... Williams has a higher ceiling than OG but a lower floor and is much less ready to contribute. Toronto is one of those teams where I am just not sure what they are going to do and swapping Rudy for OG and Trent leaves them with some serious spacing issues. Might be a defensive juggernaut and maybe they add some shooting... but its a weird roster. Its a great roster... but just weird with some different timelines etc. I think they would do well to see what Barnes looks like in year 2 before making a major move. I think OG and Trent would have trade interest from 29 other teams too.

I just read the Andy Larsen article on Quin. It was great... as always. It did make me lose a little more hope though... Quin looked at the organizational goals... the roster... and just said he sees no way to make things work. Unnerving.

I had a dream that the Jazz traded Mitchell to Houston for #3, #17, 2 future FRPs (maybe Brookyn?), Eric Gordon and something else.

Then I woke up.
