He seems like he's still connected to the Celtics, which if you don't know, is not the Utah Jazz.

At this juncture, no... As I pointed out in the Ainge curse thread, we were playing really good basketball before he arrived. 2 weeks after his arrival the team started it's down fall. I no longer think it's coincidence. He didn't do anything in Boston and the moment he leaves the team makes the Finals.

He has a lot of work to do to earn my support. I know my support means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things but as a fan I am very put off by him so far.

I voted yes mostly because I think he did a lot of good things while he was GM of the Celtics and I want to see what he can do with the Jazz. Having said that, I can't deny that it was really strange for him to be wearing Celtics gear at the game tonight.

Notice he was at their game tonight and they sucked… he’s cursed.

If Ryan Smith is worried about what Danny Ainge is wearing at an NBA finals game of a team that he played for and then built, he's focused on the wrong things.
I don’t think it’s Ryan. I think it’s the guys who helped build this current team and have been grounded to Utah, then get a new owner and, oh, here comes Danny Ainge after the Hayward fiasco and he’s gonna be running the ship from the golf course.

Well it's a new era of Jazz basketball.

It would have been ten times more weird for Ainge to have gone to the game in a Jazz jersey. He is obviously a fan a former player and coach for the Celtics organization and it is sheer pettiness at this juncture and game 6 of the finals for anyone to begrudge him that celebration due to his current Jazz affiliation. He has done absolutely nothing to betray his current obligations IMO.

Can anyone think of a precent for this? When was the last time an active president of a team was seen wearing gear from another team?

If you’re not over your ex you’re not ready for a new relationship.

Or he hired the wrong guy. If I were Smith it would absolutely bother me to have my main guy wearing competitor gear. Would you care if Donavon went to an NBA game and wore the gear of another team? Or pick a player who was came to Utah from another team - is it OK for them to wear the great of their old team while playing for the Jazz?

Ainge was a player there and won championships with them, he also spent a ton of time there as an executive. Would you be upset if Wade was rocking a Heat shirt at a game?

Wade is a minority owner. Its kind of a big difference. But, I dont think any of them should. You dont need to wear a Jersey to go to a game. You can go in your normal clothes. Personally it doesnt really bother me, I dont really give a **** about this stuff. But it is unprofessional. I worked at companies for a long time that I really like and had a long relationship in various forms. But I would never wear my uniform from them when hired at a different company. But this whole thing is a bit overblown, mostly because Utah fans are big time feeling like they are underdogs and disrespected. Probably over half the fan base think the NBA refs are against the Jazz.

Played 8 years for Boston. Won 2 rings there.
19 years as an executive for Boston.

Not going to judge him too harshly. He has every reason to have lifelong Celtic Pride.
Then why not just stay there? I’m fine with it but it’s a bad look. Go to the game but maybe not full fan boy colors and maybe not be on the court. I’d be annoyed if I was the Celtics… like wtf you doing here homey we took away your office keys.

I mean if I was amicably divorced and remarried I might spend time with my ex-wife cuz we were together a while and have kids together... but if I was in her house wearing my old his and hers robes... then I might get some weird looks from my current wife.

This entire Celtics team was drafted by Aingle. Tatum, Brown, Smart, Robert Williams, Grant Williams, Pritchard... Even in the old days Ainge got a gem in Rondo who was 21st pick in a very weak 2006 draft to supplement the big three. He was also known to be one of the only guys who wanted to move up in the draft to get Kobe before the Lakers took him.

The one thing that the Jazz desperately need is to draft better and Ainge is certainly one of the best in that business

It's not really a big deal given his history with Celtics and that team. But it's not like he is a teenager who has to go to the game in a jersey. At his age and position he has with a Jazz now it's not the best look. But he's not been famous for being a very sensitive person anyway.
As to the question in the poll I find it hard to answer cause what bothers me is how seriously is he treating the job with the Jazz. If he is really commited I believe that he could do a lot right things for us but if this is just a gig to make him feel still active at his old days but it doesn't really care that much than I would rather let someone else do the job.
