The think the Nets jerseys from when they moved had a bit of a simple elegance to them. Not flashy, but at least some minute of thought went into those. After 2 days of digesting all of this, I’m gonna try to say a few nice things about the re-brand (and believe me, it ain’t easy).
- I wonder if I’m taking this more personal than I should be since the Jazz are “my” team. When the Nets moved to Brooklyn and came out with their simplistic black and white uni’s, I absolutely loved how clean and uncluttered they looked. In all reality, our black and yellows are more simple, but not by much.
- Ryan absolutely got caught flat footed by the negative response of the leaks, and I wonder if this is just a growing pain. In fairness to him, I will say that he’s done some mighty good things since taking over, but trying to launch a ground up re-brand less than 2 years of becoming the owner obviously overwhelmed him.
I don’t think Ryan’s allowed to get drunk, which means he signed off on this rebrand while stone cold sober. That’s scary. The think the Nets jerseys from when they moved had a bit of a simple elegance to them. Not flashy, but at least some minute of thought went into those.
As far as the Jaz unis, I'm a sucker for the purple mountains and like the white with the gold trim and black logo. Simple. The black and yellow unis may indicate a Bic or Sharpie sponsorship in the works or something. Block script like that indicate laziness on the part of the designer or Ryan was drunk when he said "You know what, let's really go old school. High School baby!"
Like, I hesitate to say this, but I’ll just say it — bright yellow just isn’t a good look for a certain segment of the population that happens to be 99.9% of Utah’s population.Bojan gonna look like a big banana in those yellow ones.
Agreed the color palette definitely needed to be narrowed and adding new colors that have nothing to do with Jazz or our history is a big miss? We are now the bumblebees. I hope the Jazz note doesnt get lost in all this. And my take is that these are by far the worst uni's we have ever had - though the subway sandwich green is right up there.. As someone reported, this feels like Ryan and his yes men locked up in a room.I totally appreciate wanting to narrow the range of the Jazz color palette. Wasn’t the obvious thing to do to pivot to purple, white, and then black as an accent color or something?
I just don’t understand where black, highlighter yellow, and white even came from. Super awful. More terrifying than actually having to see anyone wear that yellow monstrosity is the fact that the people that signed off on this are still running the show.

I am not sure what the official Jazz colors were because of the range of narrowing and the Jazz are one of the only teams I can say that about. So I am all in on narrowing regardless of what anyone else says. Narrowing and completely changing are two different things. Go Utah BumblebeesI still question the idea that the color palette needed to be narrowed. It sounds like the kind of thing a higher up person in a company says and everyone just agrees with it, without critically thinking about if it makes sense.
Just make great looking uniforms that people would want to wear and not be embarrassed about. Extra bonus points for uniforms that look great on the court. The gradient jerseys should have clued everyone in on this. Pretty sure those jerseys made everyone a lot of money. They were never going to be the primary jerseys, but made a great change of pace as an alternate jersey. You'll never make everyone happy, but at least try and do something that is generally accepted.

Ryan wanted to roll with black/white but the NBA said that we needed to add a third color.I totally appreciate wanting to narrow the range of the Jazz color palette. Wasn’t the obvious thing to do to pivot to purple, white, and then black as an accent color or something?
